Indiana in the top five of the College Football Playoff rankings? You've got to be kidding

Great story but they’ve played no one. No way they deserve to be this high. Big test at Ohio State coming up.

How can you not give Indiana its due? They are undefeated and soundly beaten who they are scheduled to play. The OSU game will likely determine their fate anyway, but for now, this team looks like the real deal. Their offense is excellent and fun to watch, their defense is way better than anticipated and their coaching staff is among the very best in the country. I am frankly very jealous of their success, but to deny them their current ranking seems unfair.

Could say the same about Texas and PSU too.
Perhaps. I’m thinking more vs. Georgia, who is not in right now. True, they have two losses, but the losses were to Alabama and Ole Miss, while they beat Texas and destroyed Clemson (OOC). I get that two losses is significantly higher than zero and you can only play who is on your schedule, but I doubt many people think Indiana is better than Georgia, and even if they are, Indiana should not be 5 and Georgia 13. Indiana should definitely be in right now since they are 10-0, but not at 5.

If we were 9-0 right now people here would 100% be saying "schedule doesnt matter. We deserve to be top 5. You can only play the people on your schedule. Nobody cared when we played multiple top 10 teams other years."

I think the issue is that (especially with the top 4 being conference champions) 2 loss SEC teams will be ranked 7-12.... which means either a hard home game or an away game.

They 100% believe that a 2 loss SEC team should be at home vs a 1 loss B10 team especially Indiana. If Alabama goes to Indiana and losses close they will say it should have been a home game to the SEC and that they lost because it was cold in Indiana.

Also take a look at who Michigan played last year OOC and how high they were able to get ranked.

Ole Miss also thrashed UGA, it wasn’t just a close loss. Beck has been an INT machine this year too.

Indiana is undefeated and is kicking the sh!t out of their opponents. If they win against OSU, would you agree that they deserve to be #2 (since OSU beat the #4 team and lost to the #1 team by 1 point)?

That would be the signature win that would justify the ranking. But until that happens #5 is too high given their schedule

Look at Michigan’s schedule last year, especially OOC. I have no problems questioning IU but I’d don’t see so many questions when a higher status program has the same kind of profile.

Texas hasn’t beat anybody. They beat Michigan and Vandy by just 3.

PSU hasn’t beaten anybody either.

They don’t get the same scrutiny as IU? Why? Because of the logo on the helmet.

I’ll be rooting for IU but I think they will lose to OSU by 2 scores at least. But for the time being, I think they’re fine where they are and then they can drop if/when they lose or get blown out.

Terrible call.

Glad there are real playoffs now so we don't have to deal with this type of arbitrary subjectiveness.

Indiana is having the year we thought we could have. It hasn’t worked out for us the way we hoped. I am rooting for them during football season.
I'm rooting for them too. However, I highly doubt there was anybody who thought we would be undefeated at this point and in the top 10 of the CFP rankings. Well maybe except Al.

I'm glad for the Hoosiers
Also jealous , but won't say they don't deserve being highly thought of.
They will prove they deserve their ranking in 10 days.
Indiana is undefeated and scored under 30 only 1 time in 10 games a 20-15 win over Michigan last week .

They get their chance to prove they belong there a week from Saturday

There won’t be any subjectiveness after they play Ohio State..and for the record, I hope you are right, I just don’t think you are.

I highly doubt anyone thought Indiana would be undefeated, yet here we are. FWIW, I was getting worried about Al before the Minnesota game, he was approaching rational.

They are undefeated in the BIG. Any team that goes 10-0 in any of the big 4 would be ranked at least that high no matter who they played. I'm just glad the committee isn't fawning all over the SEC. It'll be nice to see them actually have to play road games up north in some possible adverse conditions.
