Is Flood on the hot seat or not?

Is anyone else surprised the BTN guys never seem to even hint that Flood's job could be in jeopardy?

Wouldn't you think the Big Ten would be worried about the program right now?

Sadly, I think the people who have said all along that Flood would be back might be right.
 
Biggest saving grace was we lost to wisconsin. Noone expects rutgers to be competitive against top teams. So blowouts against MSU OSU wisky Michigan will be excused. If Indiana finished as a blow out, or a mid tier/ low tier Big 10 team did this- there would be non stop hot seat talk
 
for one they don't really have much to say about Rutgers ever, we are pretty irrelevant in league. I just don't think they get that critical in a wrap up show of coaches status. Millen did say that these coaches will be coaching for their jobs the last 4 games

what are you talking about...do you just post just to be contrarian. Yes he wont be fired before the end of the season but don't fool yourselves on scenerios that will occur by the end of the year

Who the hell knows with the seeming ineptitude of this administration? -But with the product that's being put out on the field, Flood's seat shouldn't simply be hot...it should be molten.

The admin is not just inept they could care less about the alumni of this University!
 
ha, we're making a basis on flood's long term prospects based on if BTN mentioned it...

guys, the last two games spoke for themselves. columnists across the country have been making fun of Flood.

most importantly, the big boosters are pushing the charge now.

behind the scenes, it is not a rosey future for flood. let's just hope it materializes.

If Flood was messing up the medical school, Barchi would care. But it's football so Barchi doesn't care

Until flood is fired we can only assume he will be here next year. What should not be beyond doubt at this point is that a coach who gets blown out 3 or 4 times per year when he took over a strong program getting it's first top 25 recruiting class has no future as a head coach.

If they mentioned his job was in danger during the broadcast I must have missed it. All I know is in the final five minutes the announcers sure acted as if his job was safe. That's the take I got from them.

I also found it amusing that when Rettig scrambled out of bounds they said he was huffing and puffing. Someone in RU land is really trying to push the idea that Rettig is immobile and Laviano is mobile. Although I'm pretty sure both escaped one sack each today. Rettig fell and Laviano took several sacks. But the announcers kept pushing the company line...
 
The announcers were talking about the remainder of RU's schedule and did say something about the staff probably coaching for their jobs...or something along the lines of that.

I think you give way to much power to the arm that is the RU Athletic department. These guys probably didn't watch RU play all season until they started reviewing films for this game. Our school can't paint a narrative for the local media but you think they have BTN and some JV group of announcers in their pocket? Lol
 
Announcers tend to be very safe when discussing the issue of job security for coaches. They are probably wary of being accused of weighing in too much and helping get someone fired.

As a PR guy, I certainly do.

What is more likely: the BTN announcers watched tales of the two games Rettig played (in which he scrambled well against Norfolk) and determined that he wasn't mobile? Or that someone at RU gave them that narrative? I think it has to be the latter.

If people only watched him in his two previous appearances, I doubt they would have said he was immobile. And if people judged Laviano by today's game (other than one nice scramble to avoid a sack) I highly doubt they would be calling him s mobile QB.

To be fair, I think Julie is just giving Coach Flood an opportunity to learn through the games. He obviously is the coach who gives us the best chance to win.

The pressure or lack thereof on flood is a good way to gauge just what kind of ambitions for the program our administration has. So far I would say the apparent lack of pressure hints strongly at just what their ambitions are. But to be fair to them too many of rutgers fans are more than satisfied with 7 and 5 seasons and think comebacks against cellar dweller and mediocre teams are the sign of a good team. They don't feel pressure from anywhere to demand quality.
 
He's not going anywhere. Ppl could post all the hot seat rumors they want, this is RU administration we are talking about. We could lose every game for the rest of the season, it won't matter.

Do you even think Barchi watches the games? For all he cares Flood wins more games than he loses overall, and gets us to bowl games normally and that's " fine for now"

Disagree. Nebraska is bad and if they come in and beat us in a very winnable home game that may be all folks. IMO getting stomped by PSU, OSU, Wisconsin and most certainly Michigan next week should be enough but sadly it won't. He will need to lose to Nebraska which we conceivably will and Maryland is no gimmee.

I agree. But right now..he seems safe to me..as I wrote.

Hopefully Barchi realizes it soon that we need a change.
 
Some people might say that the first 3 season were o.k. Normally, it takes 3 bad seasons before the administration takes action. Tickets sales has not been affected as yet by our performance which the administration would notice. Very few AD are proactive .

Then that will simply be another example of the admin.'s stupidity, because if they don't lose the coach, they're most assuredly going to begin losing the fans.
