Is Rutgers the worst at producing NFL quarterbacks ?

We've had plenty that played in the league with McMahon and Lucas the longest most recently. also, GS did a real disservice to this program that few know about regarding qb play. believe, we've been offered help by pro players and coaches in this area only to get the GS Napoleonic finger.

I really don't care as much about getting producing a great NFL quarterback as I do about just having a great college quarterback. Would gladly take a Pat White or Colt Brennan type of QB who was able to light it up within our system, even if he didn't necessarily translate to the next level.

Wait. Off the top of my head I can recall Bert Jones of LSU....one of the best qbs I've ever seen. And Oklahoma had a guy named Aikman. Doesn't VPI have Tyrod Taylor starting for Buffalo ?
Oklahoma currently has Sam Bradford and Landry Jones in the League.
And LSU has Zach Mettenberger.
And a guy named Michael Vick.

Sure I celebrate every RU guy's NFL success as much as anybody. It is great to have the reputation as an feeder school for recruiting.

But as a Rutgers fan I'd much rather have a bunch of guys who are great at the college game but don't make a big splash at the next level rather than producing a few NFL all time greats.

I'm not a fantasy sports guy so the idea of having a collection of very talented guys with great stats that go on to star in the Pros - but under performed as part of a college team as to win/losses - doesn't do much for me.

Ryan Hart actually started a game. Think Teal was a backup. Dodd was a POY overseas.

Ryan Hart was NEVER in the NFL. Youre confusing him with Mike McMahon who did start for Detroit for a little bit. And overseas football is a joke unless he's playing in the CFL and starting. That Italian league is worse than D3 football and shoudnt be considered as doing anything. I really wish we kept Savage.

Who cares about how many QB's we put into the league? We lead the league in long snappers! If you are a LS then RU is your first choice!

How many NFL QBs has Ohio State produced? Their last 2 great QBs are WRs now. How many Alabama QBs are starting in the NFL right now? Those programs have accounted for 6 National Championships since 2001. Rutgers actually isn't that much worse at producing NFL QBs than these programs are. The problem at RU has been developing good college QBs.

So, took a look through the NFL QB stats so far this year, and there are 48 QBs that have made at least 10 attempts, coming from 41 schools. That leaves 87 teams without a QB in the NFL right now that has made more than 10 attempts.

Two schools had 3 QBs on that list:
USC (Palmer, Kessler, Barkley)
Michigan State (Cousins, Hoyer, Stanton)

Three schools had 2 QBs on the list:
NC State (Rivers, Brissett)
Oklahoma (Bradford, Jones)
Stanford (Luck, Hogan)

Broken down by conference:
12 - Pac 12
8 - Big Ten
7 - ACC, SEC
3 - AAC, B12
2 - MWC
1 - MAC
(also 5 from FCS schools)

Teel was the third string qb for seattle for a full season but did not see any regular season action in 2009. He never made an active roster after trying out for the patriots and bears. Every team can probably name a similar player. Also lets stop embarrassing ourselves by naming Dodd.
