Is the outside of the new RWJB really planned to be as drab as the RAC?

A little concerned about the renderings too, I think it needs a little more “WOW” factor from the outside. But they are just renderings after all. Not sure what the cream color stuff is, if it’s actually chrome metal or something it will look cool. Have to wait and see. And yes need a big Red R

Why are we so concerned about its exterior appearance as if that is going to sell the recruits on it? So you want to spend more money on the exterior to make it look "less drab" when what we should be spending on is the amenities inside the facility. Seems logical :joy:.

Making the R red inst exactly going to break the bank. And yeah, its more about the fans and alumns coming (pride)....thank God we didn't take that approach to HPSS.

You like the outside look of the RAC? #firstimpressionmatter

Why are fans going to the practice facility on a regular basis? The place is designed for the team and to get better players on the team. Hobbs and pikiell know this and everything is done with that in mind.

Making the R red is not going to break the bank no, but your comment about the rest of it being a "drab" from its outside is far different than the RAC. This is a practice facility not an arena where fans are going into game in and game out. I care way more about what the inside of the place looks like, has to offer in amenities and training aspects than whether or not its more colorful in visual appearance. Those aspects like the locker room, technology, etc are what recruits focus on, not the outside of the building.

It is a question of money. Has anyone sen some of the new buildings that a school like Princeton builds?
They have a ton of money and can afford to commission architects with spectacular designs.
If you have limited funds, you build utilitarian looking buildings that you can afford.

It also has to fit in and complement its surroundings. It will look fine in combo with its neighbors.

I never made a comment "about the rest of it"....I made a comment in totality and suggested a Red R vs. white be would be improvement.

Some of you guys crack me up and can be such a holes. We've been waiting for this thing forever and a chance to have something special as recruits, visiting fans, and our fans walk up to the RAC. This is the home of our winter sports training facility....and it could look just like another classroom or dorm. The rendering I inserted from Official site looks like an on campus medical facility because of the labeling...not the architecture.

All i suggested was spiff it up with some red.....and you extremist who should be talking heads on nightly news go into "bitching and complaining" attack.

See the Nebraska "Hendricks Training Complex" highlighted over the Red background with the red N. That is all I was suggesting....

geez...

As a student and tour guide, I'm in agreement with the OP. This is the entrance to Livingston campus, where we bring prospective students and their families on a daily basis. Love it or hate it, the business school has a "wow" factor. This truly does look extraordinarily drab and like Busch campus brutalist architecture. The appearance of our campus matters, and this isn't going somewhere out of the way, this will be the first building people see coming onto Livingston campus. You don't need a building to be extraordinarily decadent on the outside to look nice. See: The Honors College, the new Academic Buildings, etc.

Bitching about a fantastic, new facility that’ll have all the bells and whistles inside. Unreal.

Is it? Is it unreasonable of us to want a facility that is largely designed to sell recruits to not look like a typical office building?

Is it wrong to bitch when we donated based on a picture that looks nothing like what this new finished product looks like?

I don't really think so. I think its fair game, and its ugly.

Like I said, you guys complain about EVERYTHING.

I’m gonna remember this thread and revive it when the facility is completed and everyone is raving about it. Oh, and I’m sure there’ll be a red R. I’d bet on it.

"Busch campus brutalist architecture". Love it!

Huskeralways, there are a lot of doors for a practice facility. Is it used for some events that bring in a fair amount of people? Is there some seating for high schools and youth teams games?

A big red R that lights up at night would be a nice addition. The rest looks fine from the outside, although some would probably like to see a moat and death star added.
Now that would be the WOW factor the RU Scarlet Knights have been lacking all these years. :boom:

It isn’t used for anything else. I have no clue why it’s that way. I’ve never scene the outer doors unlocked for entry. Just exit. Might be a fire thing too. There isn’t any seating.

I haven’t been around it enough to know much about it other than inside is nicer than my house. Ha.
