It is very hard to like this Seton Hall team, except maybe for Carrington — This is not like the Jerry Walker days, they whine constantly and never stop talking trash. I have never seen anyone complain as much as Delgado.

Sorry if this was already posted but this quote from the NBC website's game recap kinda fits into this thread about the teams + fans not liking each other:

"We're not out there to be friends, Sanogo said. "We're not out there to be buddy-buddy. I don't want to be friends with these guys. At the end of the day, I don't like anybody on their team. That's how it's supposed to be."

Sorry but the "Jerry Walker days" teams were very unlikable as well. They've always been thuggish douche bags on the court IMHO.

They are chippy. It may come back to bite them big time. It certainly did today. All those years the great Big East teams, Cuse, Nova, even GT, they played hard but never dirty. SHU, always chippy, and on the border and often crossing the fine line of dirty. Remember Pope and his punches.

Even trying to force an altercation with the Knight when RU coming on the floor. Bush league stuff.

They tried to intimidate us all day. Rodriguez tried to start a fight. Delgado bumped the Knight as well as one of our guys on the foul line. He was crying to the refs constantly. Nelson made a flagrant foul on Omoruyi with 3 seconds left. I just saw several thug moves by SHU players today. Our guys kept their calm.

Speaking of that, I did not see the double technical altercation at the foul line in the first half. I turned away at the wrong time. What happened?

Delgado gave Sa a shove and Omoruyi and someone who I’m forgetting from shoe kind of got in each other’s face. Nothing crazy but I think the refs wanted to send a message so things like that didn’t keep happening during the game.

Whole team is thugs. Nothing sweeter than watching them as a group trying but going no where against the students storming the court as they tried to get to the locker room. Protected by security but couldn't go anywhere

There were several acts of thuggery and the most atrocious one in my opinion was Powell at the end of the game on Eugene - where Eugene could have gotten hurt going for the dunk.

Can’t believe how calm Eugene was after getting cheap shot by Powell. Thought for sure it was going to be a brawl. Reminded me on Toney El

Easy to stay calm when you know you just won a huge game. If that happened a lot earlier, then I think it turns into something

I thought that was BS unless the ref heard the particular things said. Omoruyi was supposed to be at the foul line.. those SHU players were in his space (and face).

Sorry but I definitely liked the Terry Dehere led Seton Hall team. So sue me. In fact when they played Michigan for the title I was very torn because I was a Michigan fan back then.

I’ll sue you on that. Eff Seton Hall.

Omoruyi seemed to be catching a big portion of the aggression. Maybe they didn't count on him being a factor...he was pissing them off.
  • Eugene Omoruyi finished one rebound shy of a double-double (10 points, nine rebounds), with his nine rebounds going down as a new career high for the sophomore.

It was a chippy game for SHU....23 points in the second half....Poor Babies.

Even when walking back for National Anthem they were a bit douchey trying to start something.

I think good composure and not falling for a dirty teams tricks is part of what you buy into with coach P. Even Coach P was kinda subdued during some of the extra-curriculars.

I fully expected them to bait our younger guys into a tussle to get them thrown out.

I will NEVER forget when the TV people panned to 3 suicidal looking blue shirted SHU fans amidst a sea of thrashing red shirted fans waving towels & jumping up/down all around them.

Kind of thought Eugene slowed down on that last one to rub it in a bit, and he may have even known what was coming. I love it.

It’s like the players on both sides read the Carino article about the rivalry and collectively felt there hasn’t been enough of the “as always, drama” portion recently.

Eugene kind of lost his dribble a bit, he had to gather himself some, he didn't do it on purpose.

Don't flinch to a bully, keep your composure, the bully usually gets flustered.

Coach Pike was so calm when he needed to be, we have a great staff.

The incident of Delgado pushing the Knight before the game, Delgado bumping our foul shooter, Rodriguez like he often does trying to start a fight and Powells hard foul on Omoruyi with 3 seconds left were all acts of thuggery. That is the way SHU plays. They could not intimidate us.

FYI, those 3 SHU fans were in the student section with a RU student friend.
Should the RU student have brought them into the section?

The year-in and year-out SHU cheap shots and trash talking is inherent in this game. SHU BB players must be forced to take a class in assholery before they can take the court.

Everyone needs to read their board. My general sense that they are classless scum has now been etched in stone. They make Xcuse & Puke-On bandwagons seem like upstanding citizens. The SOCC crowd longs for the chance to join the Pedophiles for some shower hijinks after their shift at Hess pumping gas.[poop][poop][poop]

Having never liked a Seton Hall team (making a slight exception back when their student government passed that idiotic resolution calling for P.J.'s firing; I had to hope they did better -- briefly -- just to point out the foolishness of that), I can't relate.

There was a brief time that I thought SHU was cleaning up their act- Willard’s recruits prior to Whitehead.
Willard sold out to recruiting sketchy players and assistants when his job was on the line.

Terry Dehere was not on the team that played Michigan.

I remember Andrew Gaze. He arrived at SHU in October just prior to bball season + left after the NCAA finals. Never spent a semester at the school. I recall wondering how he was even allowed to play but now we all know just how spineless an organization the NCAA is, which makes the question moot.

Steve Pikiell- We try to search for high character kids. The team is full of them.

Kevin Willard- We will take anyone.

Having class always gives you an edge.

Gaze lol
They didn't even try to cover up the $25k Seton Hall gave to his club team that was passed on to his family.
Deadspin ran something on it not long ago.

Why drag up something that happened almost 30 years ago? Do you guys know how Mike Rice landed his first class at Rutgers? Hint: WWW.

No big time program is immune from this stuff.

Seton Hall is brash and chippy, but nothing over-the-top. I may be remembering incorrectly, but didn't Sa start that first little tussle with Delgado? Most of those kids have been with the program for 4 years without any off the court issues. It is a far cry from the Herb Pope, Keon Lawrence, Jeff Robinson days.
