"Against man-to-man defense, Rutgers often ran an isolation play for Lloyd called 14-low (Lloyd wore No. 14). It was painfully simple: The other four players would stand along the baseline while Lloyd worked his magic.

Congratulations to his family but I was never a big fan.
I remember that book. I think @Plum Street has a typo and meant to say "kids in the school that couldn't read. Chris Washburn is the guy who comes to mind immediately.
Jimmy V was a shady character who had a geat personality. He did a lot to raise cancer awareness and may he rest in peace but I didn't like him as a coach. Just a personal opinion.

One game…no. But this was the equivalent of a Nebraska this year winning the conf tourney, making the dance and just win out.

Here is a good story about Washburn :

I saw Valvano speak at a clinic the year after they won the NC. Very entertaining and had some funny stories but all he added to the clinic basketball wise was that didn't believe in running drills in practice. Instead all they did is scrimmage teaching on the fly and shoot foul shots.
