Does anyone suspect that Urban Meyer started Jones this season with the idea of getting him experience while keeping JT Barrett healthy? Their offense is so much more dynamic with Barrett in there, and you have to think Meyer knows that. I wonder if he thought that Barrett playing a full season, with all the hits he takes, wasn't realistic considering he lost two QBs last year.

I think it's more that he wanted to use Barrett only in redzone situations then have the option to use him full time late in the season. But Jones played so poorly that an earlier change than desired was necessary.

Barrett was worth at 3 TD's in both the PSU and RU games, maybe more, he also seems to have better command of the offense that Jones.

They look like the #1 team in the nation with Jones, but they look like the national champions with Barrett. Not a bad problem to have.

OSU fan here. Attended the game, was treated well, and had a great time at bars and restaurants beforehand and afterwards.

Barrett hadn't recovered enough from last year's injury and didn't play well enough in practice and the first 4 games to win the starting job. The other factors relate to personnel and coaching. OSU's RT it is a very good run blocker, but cannot pass block, and there's been no true deep threat to replace Devin Smith. On the coaching front, losing Tom Herman (OC) to Houston has changed the QB's interaction with the rest of the offensive staff. Barrett is just a better fit right now with the personnel and coaching staff, but couldn't wrestle the job away from Jones earlier.
