LOL. Nobody gives a shit and wants to talk about it.

This. It was a nothing game with little to no meaning. It sucks that we blew a 17 point lead but certainly validates the heavy portal action on the defensive side. Greg has a history of success with defense and this was really the only season of disappointment on that end in 2.0 so there’s no reason to hit the panic button. Odds are he’ll fix it in the off season .

The haters will be out complaining about the coaching but at the end of the day, a team should be able to ride the brakes on offense with a 17 point lead late in Q3. The D completely failed us. Full stop.

Disagree the game had little to no meaning. It was a chance to right the ship, and the team and coaches failed at that mission. Greg better get a solid DC.

Your last 2 sentences preceded by "The haters will be out complaining about the coaching staff" will validate the haters being out complaining. The team should have been able to hold a large lead late in Q3, and the defense did fail us, and the offense fizzled. The game was a chance to put an exclamation mark on a strong finish to the season, and it ended with a question mark one where the defense is headed next year.

Sure - it was a “chance” to end on a positive note from a die hard fan perspective. But no matter how you spin it - in the long term the game just did not matter that much in terms of the trajectory of program overall. The outcome will have no impact on recruiting - for better or worse, nor is the external perception of our program moving forward now any different than it would’ve been had we won the game. Winning is always “nice”, that goes without saying.

As far as the haters, your giving my post way too much power. You have most of them blocked but they are already out in full force. The same group who have historically complained about how bad an offensive coach Greg is have now generalized it to apply to D. Except that he has an excellent history of coaching D - except for this season. Your entitled to your opinion, but I put no blame on the offense for the outcome. When your offense has built a 17 point lead with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and put up 34 points - they did their part. We gave up 3 TDs in 2 minutes and 40 seconds. That is the reason we lost. The D needs to be fixed. Sure - the offense could’ve saved us with an explosive drive at the end, but then again, it did just that vs Illinois so it probably wouldn’t have been good enough unless we punched it in with time expiring. D needs reconstruction. I personally have faith Greg will fix it in the offseason.
