Lack of talent and depth caught up to us in this one

Right.. And the teams we compete against will stand still and wait for us to catch up.

No they'll be about the same. How can the top teams go higher than the top? Indiana will be around the same, Maryland same, Purdue same, etc.

This game is exhibit A as to the lack of talent this team has. It's incredible the depths to which Flood took this program so quickly.

Indiana gifted this game and we didn't have enough talent to reach out and grab it.

Don't even try and put this on the staff. Even our players would tell you they didn't even bring their B game, let alone their A game today.

This team needs playmakers - desperately. This squad is painfully thin on talent.

I resisted agreeing with this for a long time. No longer. It is on point.

Obvious is obvious.

I turned on two different games after ours and immediately saw two WR's make better than anything I have seen from ours.

Patton dropping a TD in his lap is preposterous. You can't win football games that way.

We don't get penalized much. That's the biggest sign we that the team is well coached. You can't judge anything else because there is so little talent.

Great players make great coaches, not the other way around.

It's why recruiting is so important. If Ash can get it done we will be good. If he can't we wont.

Valiant effort by and over-matched RU team.

I thought the game was lost on the 3rd and short early in the 2nd half up 11.

They should have not rushed the snap.
A first down there and keeping the drive alive, I think they go down the field and score.

It was a bad loss but no one should be surprised with the total lack of talent and depth on this roster right now.

I do like the heart and character that is now in this football program.

Once Ash gets 2 recruiting classes in they are definitely a bowl team.

NJ high school seniors who have committed or still considering RU, you have to be impressed with the direction the program is going.

We had a boat load of penalties today and the drop came after we wasted every possession after we went up 11pts.

No we didn't. And we are top 3 in least penalized team in the league. Great coaching.

Only so much a coach can do. IT's the guys on the field who either make plays or don't. We don't. And the reason is because the aren't talented.

They try. They have worked hard. They just aren't good enough. But really, outside of a few guys like Muller and a couple of others, is anyone really surprised?

Beating out the Richmond's of the world is great...unless you play in the B1G. Then this is what you get.

We don't get penalized much and try really hard. That's all Ash can bring to the table at this point.

His recruiting will determine, like every coach, what kind he really is.

Not much positive today...won turnover battle 4-1 and lost...indiana dominated every stat. Too many gung ho with moral victory talk after Minnesota...reality is this is a very bad football team that will not win another game this year
Wasn't that Ash's key to winning? Now what's he gonna say?

We had 8 penalties in this game. 4 penalties for pass interference. 3 of those PIs were on Wharton because he doesn't have the hips to play corner. 1 we had a block in the back on a return. And hogan got hit with boneheaded personal foul call.

Only 1 flag on the offense and that was on Tsimis stepping out of bounds. No false starts.

The receivers are killing the offense and with it the team. They rarely get open down field and since they can't make athletic catches--or even normal catches over the shoulder--opposing teams quickly figure out they can stack the box and kill our rushing game. In addition, the QB then comes under increasing pressure because 9 or 10 or 11 out of 11 defensive players are hanging around the LOS. Eventually the only passes that do get made are quick passes around or behind the LOS. It's a pattern we've seen all year.

Last year Laviano was an ok QB when he had Carroo and Grant on the field. They went away and suddenly he's the worst QB in college football? No, he lost his targets. Without Carroo to draw double or triple coverage our best receiver this year, Patton, can't get open on his own more than once per game.

I believe our coaches are recruiting a lot of WRs in this class and there's your reason why. Before too long you will probably see few if any of today's receivers getting much playing time.

So other than the actual penalties we really don't commit penalties. Hmmmm

Our best playmakers are on high school fields right now.

Melton steps on campus and starts.

This team will impress next year, trust me. I'm guaranteeing a 6-6 season.
Let's stop with predictions it's getting old. Some guys were attacking posters today saying no way we lose this game and we win next 4. Seriously.

What is your point? Compared to the schools we commit fewer penalties. Half of our penalties were committed by one player who was getting beat all game. You appear to be suggesting that the penalties were on the coaches and not on the players.

so a player is getting beat repeatedly shouldn't the coaches make an adjustment? Is that coaching?

Tough to do when you have a true freshman at corner (Hayes) who also needed help over the top and your opponent is running 4 and 5 receiver sets.

Wasn't the safety there all day? And incidentally he never got in the way of the passes either.
Maybe bring blitzes to force shorter passes? The safety was deep but not cheating over enough.

Yeah there's really no need to play the blame game on this one. Lack of talent in all 10 position groups.

We played IU today, not OSU. Their talent level is the same if not worst than ours. Flood beat them. Stop with the other excuses. Coaching has to take responsibility. 4-1 TOs and they missed like 10 pts from the kicking game and we still can't win.

All of these things people are suggesting on defense are pretty simple. Do they really believe a guy who was the dc for a national championship team isn't aware of them???
