Lack of talent and depth caught up to us in this one

We played IU today, not OSU. Their talent level is the same if not worst than ours. Flood beat them. Stop with the other excuses. Coaching has to take responsibility. 4-1 TOs and they missed like 10 pts from the kicking game and we still can't win.

IU has the same level of talent as us? What is your rationale for that assessment?

We beat Indiana last year because we had Carroo. Where is this year's playmaker on offense?

All of these things people are suggesting on defense are pretty simple. Do they really believe a guy who was the dc for a national championship team isn't aware of them???
He doesn't call the D!!!!! He is too big time for that now.

It's IU!!!! We beat them the last two years.

By the way - the 4-1 turnover margin - the staff gets no credit for that right? The missed FGs - that is not talent.

Sometimes games are lost due to coaching blunders, sometimes it's because you don't have the talent where you need it. We lost today because guys didn't make plays on offense. Our QB is still hampered by a hamstring injury, which means no true dual threat in the run game. Not much you can do when you don't have have much at the receiver position either. Indiana has talent - more talent than RU - particularly at the skill positions. Since you brought up OSU - Indiana took them deep into the 4th quarter and nearly pulled off an upset earlier this year.

So what they are IU. They are a solid team and better than us. We beat them last year??? Who cares that was last year. Two completely different teams.

Yes, different teams and different staff this year.

So other than the actual penalties we really don't commit penalties. Hmmmm
Two of the PI calls were total bullshit. This staff is coaching just fine right now. We need better players and a whole lot more depth.

LOL - you didn't answer my question.

Indiana was a bowl team last last year. They had a poor DC last year too. We lost our top playmaker from last year - an NFL talent. This year we lost our top playmaker on O - who was tailor made for this offense. With our QB relatively immobile, we needed our receivers to step up and make plays in this game. They did not.

Listen bud - we will just agree to disagree.

You mean just like Rescigno in the early games and Robert Martin (and Cioffi) at the present time.
Rescigno looked horrible early on, Martin is injured and Cioffi appeared to get benched today after that horrendous attempt at a tackle that gave up a TD. And his replacement came and made some great tackles and had a great INT.

So I guess I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here.

We finally win the turnover battle 4 to 1, but then commit too many penalties. Open field tackling has also regressed after beginning to get better. On that note, Cioffi needs to sit.

It improved once Cioffi sat.

4 of the penalties were for PI - couple may have been questionable.

He did sit, for the most part, after that bad missed tackle early in the game.

The team is playing with heart and only heart. I may have disagreed with Ash regarding the immediate implementation of a new offense without having the weapons in place. However, I can see the logic now. This team will be much improved next team.

When the kids aren't talented enough to play O and D the way the coaches are trying to teach them to do,then the coaches should simplify things and get the kids to play at their highest levels in the stepped down plans. At least they will be executing things well and understanding what they are doing.Slow and steady just might win a few races. It can't be any worse than it is now.

We played IU today, not OSU. Flood beat them.

Flood had the luxury of having Leonte on the field, (who, unlike our current receivers, could haul in any pass thrown even remotely near him and then actually do something after the catch), and he also had a healthy JG, who was a threat to take it to the house every time he touched the ball .

Ash, on the other hand, doesn't have those weapons at his disposal, and there are only so many adjustment and tweaks coaches can make to try to change things up. -And opportunities have been there in the 3 close B1G games we've lost, but the guys on the field, even though they were, without question, giving their all, didn't execute when they had the chance to take advantage. And when interviewed, even the players say that isn't on the staff...that's on them.

Don't even try and put this on the staff. Even our players would tell you they didn't even bring their B game, let alone their A game today.

This team needs playmakers - desperately. This squad is painfully thin on talent.
The disturbing factor is that so many players not performing up to expectations are upper classmen.Next year the refrain will be lack of experience causing the poor performance. The cycle never seems to end with lame excuses. The bottom line is that players and coaches need to be held accountable or things will never change.

lets not go crazy...they may be slightly better than RU but they played extremely poorly in the first 35 minutes of the game. RU got the benefit of 4 turnovers and still couldnt win....its very disappointing to be up 24-13 at home and then curl into a fetal position which RU did...execution plays a part for sure..so does talent but so does coaching, coaching doesnt get a pass today. I saw everyone raving about this team and its potential and THAT STUPID MORAL VICTORY NONENSE after a loss to Minnesota so you cant have it both ways

I agree actually but this was winnable as were 3 other games, the one constant is that we arent winning and coming up short in coaching and execution. I am not all that concerned for this year...although its going to hurt recruiting...but at some point in the next 2 years RU will have to beat teams at the bottom. At least fans now are realizing that RU is the worst team in the league. I wonder if that one guy thinks we are still bowling

I know but it's all about winning and we aren't winning .

It better be...even a blind squirrel finds an occasional nut.."win"!!!

Carroo had 157 yards and 3 touchdowns last year... on 7 receptions. And we barely won that game. Who are we expecting to replace that again?

There is not a massive talent difference between our opponents the last few weeks. It is coaching. This staff is in way over its head and it shows.

And the results in the games have been pretty close the last few weeks, too.
