I was not at the stadium and would not have booed but you are WRONG. The fanbase is not against him. The fanbase is against Flood for the way he has treated Rettig all season long. When a young QB like Laviano is struggling mightily in game after game, a good coach would replace him with the 2nd string to see if the team might get a spark. Nobody that I've seen has ever said simply give Rettig the starting job because Laviano is struggling. People have said, 'let's see what Rettig can do'
In yesterday's game, Laviano got CRUSHED. He's out for one play, Rettig comes in. Immediately after the play, the coach takes Rettig out for his golden boy. For all the people who think Laviano was treated poorly (and he was), how was Rettig treated there? We've seen Flood take a time out in order to PREVENT Rettig from seeing the field when Laviano had to miss a play because his helmet came off. Now in the FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON... Laviano possibly gets hurt and Rettig isn't even allowed to finish one friggin' series of handing off the ball.
Sorry, but this is ENTIRELY on Flood. He caused this problem. It's unfortunate that Laviano has to deal with it, but this is what FAVORITISM does. If Laviano was the #1 wide receiver that failed to catch a pass in 3 straight games, it's doubtful he would continue to be the #1 wide receiver. If he was the #1 running back that fumbled in 2 or 3 straight games, would he remain the #1 running back? Laviano went nearly half the season without throwing a single touchdown pass. In most of the games, he led the team to field goals, not even rushing touchdowns.
Flood had EVERY REASON to see if another young QB might have done better, he chose not to. And Laviano suffered the booing because of Flood's decision.
