Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

No one is arguing that the schedule is easy. It doesn't matter, you play who you play. Sometimes an 83 win team gets in the playoffs and wins the WS, they don't get a smaller trophy.

Like mets fans everywhere wouldn't be crying if the situation was reversed.
And they wouldn't be buying that "you play who you play crap" either.
The Yankees have a better record than the mets right now and the only thing that might prevent us from having more wins than the mets at the end of the season is the extremely difficult schedule the Yankees have left vs. the bunch of losers left on the mets schedule....including the two teams with the worst records in MLB. Just consider yourself lucky that your team doesn't play a real schedule in a real division.
Now, let us focus on Kershaw and then the Bosux....while the mets play the Twinkies.

Moving those goal posts again, BRRRRRHAHAHHAHAH.

There's just something really hilarious about fans of the mets, who have won TWO World Series in 53 seasons, trying to denigrate the 27 World Series that the Yankees have won. Talk about sore losers...or should I just say LOSERS. The only thing funnier is mets fans thinking their team is better than the Yankees when they have an inferior won-loss record and play a significantly weaker schedule.
At least the last time they spouted this whole "we're taking over the town" crap back in 1986 they actually did win one World Series. But how long did THAT dynasty last ? mets fans are like a friend of mine describes the Mexican national soccer team's fanbase. Never has a team's fan base talked so much crap when the team actually has accomplished so little.
Come on. 1986 was sooooo long ago. How many of you were even around for it ?
Hillary calls Trump supporters deplorable's, Kbee calls Mets fans Mexicans, OK I get it.lol Man, I got to invite you to one of my party's, you'll be the talk of the town.

I guess you would know Zap, you played in the bigs. Care to enlighten us on which Yankee Championship teams from 1962 on were clean? Amphetamines were the drug of choice back then, without as much media as today to spill the beans. Then came cocaine, but it was the steroids that inflated the on field performances beyond anything that came before, and you know that. PS. One more question, just like we witnessed in football with inflate-gate, what percentage of baseball managers knew, or didn't know what players were drugging or clean?
Zero

Is KBEE going to get mad about Seattle? After all they are hot and playing the lousy Angels. Would be funny if they pass the Yanks.

The METS and their fans might suk but they are living rent free in your head. So much time spent arguing and defending such a superior product like the Yankees shouldn't be necessary.

There's nothing else in his head, and the rent is cheap, so it is a win-win. The Yankees, on the other hand, would be paying $500 million per year to rent the inside of a steroid-filled pigeon's head.

Hell of a night by the local product TJ Rivera. Seems like multiple guys have been stepping up at the plate every other night and being that games' hero, with the in between games being filled in by one Yoenis Cespedes in the hero department. Guy is a monster...

A new day, a new must win-game. 4 pm matinee finale in WASH. If nothing else, Mets have given us an exciting September slate of meaningful baseball. Love this time of season. Keep it going today boys LGM!!

Wasnt most of baseball on that stuff back in the day?
I'm pretty sure that's what he meant. His answer of zero, means there were zero Yankee titles won clean as were any other titles won by other teams clean. Also, I'm guessing he meant there were zero managers that didn't know what was going on. Even though Zap is a life long Yankee fan,[with obvious reasons], he's a stand up guy who is just stating the truth I believe.

And, just like the Yankees, the Mets have given plenty of young players a shot down the stretch. The Yankee trolls are playing up the buyers vs sellers angle, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the Mets have eased in plenty of young talent as well.

Disclosure, I am a Yankee fan. I find this discussion laughable from both ends.
It makes no sense to complain about the remaining schedule of the Mets, the schedule was made long ago, and so many factors play into a 162 game season.
I find it amazing that there would be a debate about bragging rights for teams chasing the WILD CARD (and a SECOND one at that.)

Both teams overcame a lot to get where they're at; the Mets have numerous injuries, and the Yankees had a ton of bad contracts of their own making.

Neither team will go far in the playoffs (assuming either gets there.) The Yankees do not have enough reliable pitchers in the rotation. The Mets are way too reliant on the long ball for offense, and in the post season, where pitching is better, home runs are a bit harder to come by.

Bitch at me if you like, I think I've been objective, but this thread has gone on a long time with little logic to it. Everyone is speaking from the heart; as fans, its what you do.
Both teams are better today than they were two months ago (Mets need to get healthy, but time is the only thing that will solve that.) The future looks pretty good; the PRESENT looks pretty okay, no more, no less.

Mets fans surely don't suck. Although the rest of your post is spot on. So sad, that such a 'superior' team and fan base is so self conscience in regards to team across town. The Yankee fan absolutely HATES that the Mets are the better team the last 2 seasons. Also, I'm assuming you responded to the horse's ass/douche nozzle, which I can't see since he's on my chit list.

Oh...it's not necessary at all. It's just very enjoyable bringing a dose of facts to the mets cheering section. And I don't know right now how superior the Yankees product is. After all, they only have one less loss less than the mets and the same number of wins.....although the mets don't exactly play a big boy's schedule.
Good luck vs, the two worst teams in MLB over the next week.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I actually agree with everything said here.

A very well put, objective, un-biased post. Rare for this thread, bravo!

I agree with all. Yankees are most definitrly in a good position for the future with many talented young prospects; and the mets are in it to win right now. unfortunately injuries and reliance on long ball might sink them if they even make it to playoffs, beat the Cards/Giants in the 1 game, and square off w/ Cubs in NLDS. Although the mets might be in the Cubs a head a bit right now. And until proven otherwise, they're still the Cubs- they could and possibly will choke big time. I just prefer NOT to see a Cubs-Nats NLCS. Pretty puke-inducing match up for me.

Perhaps in 2015, but you should check the 2016 won/loss records once in a while.
Yankees.....77-67 535

and the Yanks play a big boy schedule. They don't have the two worst teams in MLB next up on their schedule. And their remaining games are almost all vs. contenders. The teams left on the mets schedule are all losers.

Spot on. Mets can advance if they get deGrom and Matz back in rotation, going with those three plus Bartolo. Agree about the long ball, but Jose Reyes has added spark on the base path, could use a couple of more speedsters.

My playoff rotatiom would be Syndergaard, deGrom, and Colon. Bartolo earned it. Hell, Seth Lugonhas earned it more than Steven Matz, who seem would get on the DL by sitting on the toilet.

Agree about the spark by Reyes. I would let loose all of the available speedsters on the team the same way other teams play merry go round with d'Arnaud. TC will not let that happen. He still starts D'Arnaud over Rivera, who has played better behind the plate. but what do I know.

Rivera is 10X the defensive catcher that d'Arnaud is. I like that kid, but his throw down to second reminds me of a pass from a certain QB.

Speaking of letting loose. Reyes let loose a nice throw in the 9th last night.

Just put up a new post on metsmerizedonline.com (a phenomanal mets fan blog way better than metsblog) about possibly bringing Matz and degrom back at the same time...and effectively replacing Montero with both of them piggybacking and pitching on same day !

Which is really a phenomanal idea to preserve their health & with the whole innings limit.

Imagine each one goes 3 or 4 innings with reed/familia coming in to close out the game? That's a $$$ strategy.

Rotation 1 Thor 2 degrom/Matz 3 Lugo 4 Gsellman 5 Colon. That's not bad at all assuming Lugo & Gsellman keep this chit up. And that looks entirely possible especially Lugo.

While I agree Rivera is better I wouldn't go that far. Travis has come a long way since last season OVERALL defensively, not just throwing runners out (which is probably the least important defensive attribute ask piazza who was an otherwise damn good defensive catcher).

Half the rotation fails to keep an eye on base runners anyway. I wouldn't give up on darnaud just yet and I would definitely bring him back next season if I was NYM. He might be playing injured or I'm not sure what but his power has obviously vanished this season. He's still young enough and has enough upside to regain the power for next season and the future. He mashed last year in the second half.

Another way of saying it,

Jay Bruce is a disaster. This experiment should be over.
In what alternate universe is Jay Bruce an experiment? He is an accomplished major league hitter who is in a protracted slump. There is only one way for him to get out of it, and that is to play.
