Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

The point of the mets being 5-2 vs Cubs is the endless KBEE talk of the schedule.
This,1000%, no disrespect toward Cubs. Shields, it looks like we might have our thread back, now that the trolls have seen their season implode. Seeing their young kids get experience in a playoff run bodes well for their future, unless they crap the bed and leave a bad taste all winter. I'm leaning toward a crapping as they fall further and further behind. I'd love to know the last time a "still contending" team lost as many players as the Mets this season. No doubt, who they played, with their "Las Vegas" roster helped, but still. Lost, starting players ,not backups,-1b-2b-3b-#1sp-#2sp-#4, and for LONG periods,C-SS-LF-CF. I say this to commend the job, with all his faults,Terry Collins.

If the Yankees and Mets roles were reversed right now, I might not be cheering for the Yankees, but I would not be cheering against them, and I most certainly would not be the douchebag that the 3-4 relentless Yankee fans have been in this thread. It's good for NY area sports when ANY team advances to the post season, and even better when it is your chosen team and best when more than one team competes. Don't understand the vitriol, bitterness and jealousy from Yankee fans. Deal with it- despite losing 3 of their ace starters and their entire infield to injuries for a good chunk of hte season, the Mets have a great shot at the post season. That's a great story for ANY team, let alone a LOCAL team. Our biggest enemies are YANKEE fans? That's insane and childish.

I don't hate the Yankees, but the troll Yankee fans annoy me. Who cares? We play in a different league.

Yeah, fatherhood gets in the way of enjoyment of professional sports sometimes. I wonder why nobody told me this before I decided to start a family.
True. Being a grandfather is even better since I can drop the grandkids off and be gone lol.

No. But if RU was to play Howard 19 of their last 22 games I'm sure many would point out the weakness of their schedule.
You know I'm right about the remaining schedule for the mets.
It's a joke.

After I posted THIS, you thought there was a chance the mets weren't gonna skate to the finish line with THAT creampuff schedule ? There probably were AAA clubs that had more talent this season than the Twinkies. And who is next up for the mets ?
And unfortunately for the Yankees all of the injuries caught up to them. Brian Mitchell and Luis Cessa facing the Bosux in Fenway ? Maybe they can get by with that vs. the Twinkies....not the Bosux in Fenway. I think Betances injury was the final straw.

I agree. Philly fans suck. The sixers are the only team in the area that I do not despise. BTW, don't get me started on the Dodger fanbase in my area.
Philly fans don't cheer for Jose Reyes or sing his name. So they have that going for them.

Another dim bulb. I never said that you should leave the Rutgers board. I've never said ANYONE should leave the Rutgers board.....well maybe a few Temple and Pedd St. visitors....but that's it.
Oh and Rutgersal too.
I said that anyone starting a thread on the Rutgers board about the mets should expect some of the Rutgers fans who are not mets fans to post stuff that upsets the delicate feelings of mets fans.
Just like some posters sometimes upset the feelings of Tom Brady fans or London Broil fans or Jimmy Buffet fans by posting negative stuff about them in threads here about them.
Now, please tell me why mets fans are so much more sensitive than others?

So why are the mets fans so much more sensitive than Tom Brady fans or London broil fans or Jimmy Buffet fans ?

I love how Mets fans always try to justify bad behavior with other bad behavior. Just because the Yankees traded for Chapman doesn't make their acquisition of Jose Reyes any less reprehensible. I really can't wait until the Mets' season ends in devastating fashion. They brought the bad karma on themselves by welcoming back a wife-beating scumbag. The fans that have sold their souls and played along are even worse.

One bum doesn't equal several the Yankees have or had on their team this year.

What injuries, this must be to bait us. Your injuries compared to what the Mets had to deal with this season is like a pimple on a Rhinos Ass. lmao.

Again... I wouldve signed that Cuban third baseman instead of signing Reyes because of this (even though he was not charged, perfect people like you would be all over this). Plus Flores was on a hot streak at the time.

Funny thing is that Through all of that gibberrish you still did not say that you was against the Yankees acquiring Chapman in the offseason. Kind of a DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO thing.

Im not going to quote the arse because hes quoting himself again. But the genius have said "there are AAA teams better than the teams Mets are facing." EEHHHHH... The 3/5 of the Mets current rotation IS AN AAA PITCHING ROTATION FROM LAS VEGAS.

DUHHHH!!!!

Oh... and why is the idiot SO SENSITIVE about Mets fans not giving a rats ass wether he lives or dies???

The Yankees may have the most ignorant fan base in all sports. I guess I need to add another muppet head to the ignore list. Glad to have the thread back to normal.

Nice win by the 51s today. Ynoa pitched well. I have no idea why they tried the Montero experiment in the middle of a playoff run. Regardless, he's been replaced and we need to keep it rolling against the Bravos.

LGM!

Sure you do. Same reason they tried the Lugo experiment, then the Gsellman experiment, and now the Ynoa experiment. Somebody's got to take the ball. Thankfully, it looks like all the experiments except one may prove successful.
I had been pushing for Ynoa to start. It was really out of nowhere that they brought Montero up from AA. It didn't make any sense at the time, given his control problems with the Mets last year and his 7.20 era in Vegas before being sent to Bingo.

Well said. Amazing what The Amazins had to over come this season!!!

Did anyone watch the show on Piazza career? There was a moment during the show they talked about the trade for Piazza while the Mets had catcher Todd Hundley who was an all-star too. Owners Doubleday and Wilpon didn't have the same take on the matter. Doubleday said do it and the Mets would deal with having both Piazza and Hundley later. Wilpon wanted to investigate the situation before making a decision. After the trade went through the Mets attempted to re-sign Piazza. Mets GM Phillips made an offer of 7 years for $84 million. Piazza's people had saw a video clip of Doubleday saying they expect to pay Piazza about $93 million to re-sign. We all know Wilpon was probably having a heart attack since his partner was willing to throw money to the wind. Probably explains why Wilpon bought out Doubleday in 2002. Once cheap always cheap.:(

Remember like it was yesterday. No way I thought it would happen. Then after his slow start, fans were getting on him a bit, and I thought, he'll never sign with us. But you know what, he wasn't afraid of the big city, and it's expectations. It's what separates good players from legendary players.

If Fred won't sell, then I hope he lives forever. Jeff scares me. The unaccomplished children of the very rich tend to lack the expertise of their parents.

I can see Jeff, thinking he's smart, trying a Houston type sabermetric experiment. Hopefully, he'll realize he's in over his head and sell.

Absolutely right. It's the very reason we need to sign Ces to a longer term contract.

Hey....they have no problem cheering for that bum Colon.

BTW, now that they're finished with the MLB worst Twinkies, who's up next for the mets ?

Now that the SF-STL series is over, it’s a good time to assess potential wild card tiebreakers. Here goes:

SCENARIO 1 – Mets and Giants finish in tie for both spots.

Mets and Giants meet in wild card. Mets home game because they won the season series 4-3.

SCENARIO 2 – Mets and Cards finish in tie for both spots.

Mets and Cards meet in wild card. Since the teams split the season series 3-3, home field is determined by who had the better intra-divisional record. Currently Cards are 36-30 intra-division, Mets 33-30.

SCENARIO 3 – Cards win first wild card, Mets and Giants finish in tie for second.

Mets and Giants play a special one game play-in. This is considered a regular season game; the teams can use the 40-man roster and all records count. Mets home game because they won season series. Winner goes on to play Cards in wild card at STL.

SCENARIO 4 – Giants win first wild card, Mets and Cards finish in tie for second.

Mets and Cards play in the play-in game, which counts as a regular season game as mentioned above. Home field is yet to be determined, based on final intra-divisional record. Winner plays Giants in SF.

SCENARIO 5 – Three way tie.

Here things get complicated.

The teams are seeded from 1-3 based on their head-to-head regular season record. Both the Mets and Cards beat the Giants head-to-head this year, both 4-3. Therefore, Giants are relegated to the 3 seed. The 1 seed will go to whomever has the better intra-divisional record between the Mets and Cards.

The 1-2 seeds (Mets and Cards) will play first, at the higher seed’s home field. The winner advances and will host the wild card game. The loser of that game has to play the 3 seed at the 3 seed’s home field. The winner of that game gets the second wild card. Again, these are considered regular season games.

REAL WORLD SCENARIO: The wild card "winner" gets swept by the Cubs in the NLDS.

OMG....the starting pitcher the Braves are sending out there vs. the mets tomorrow....Aaron Blair has a 0-6 record and get this....an ERA of 8.23. The hurdles just get higher and higher for the Amazins !
