And the Yankees will have something to show for this season by trading for great prospects who will impact the team for years to come. The Mets will be left with nothing but the young arms that the organization ruined with chronic overuse. Winning the 2015 NL Pennant and 2016 Wild Card wasn't worth the numerous World Series titles the Mets sacrificed in the process. There's nothing sadder in life than wasted talent.
The best scenario of course is for Mets to get first seed, and Cards/Giants tie for second, forcing them to play the play-in game and using their best pitchers.

The future is always iffy when you rely on prospects, but it can be if a couple pan out. I thought the same with Conforto after he played so well at seasons end and during the playoffs. At this point, in the heat of the playoff run, the Mets young kids are performing better than what the Yankees are throwing on the field.
