I've said it before and I'll say it again...any level-headed Mets fan knows and understands this season has been highly disappointing. Between the rash of injuries, underachieving players and the muttering, stuttering, bumbling manager, they've been a let-down so far. And yet, here they are, by hook or by crook, in a position to make the playoffs. The final chapter has not quite been written. Will they be the same old Mets or a nice story? My guess is somewhere in between. The Mets came into this season as overwhelming favorites in the NL East and were essentially out of the race after the Nats kicked their butts in the last series before the All-Star Break. They had a golden opportunity at locking up the wild card and got swept at home by the Braves. Two of their top three starting pitchers had season-ending surgery. What on earth do Mets fans have to talk smack about? The 2016 season has been a disaster.
