Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

The last five games for the Mets have been a 1-run win over the last place Twins, 3 straight losses to the last place Braves and a 1-run win over the 4th place Phillies. To make matters worse, a third overworked young starter is now out for the season. What exactly are Mets fans so excited about? The wild card is by no means guaranteed based on how they're playing and if they make it, they will either lose in the play-in game or get demolished by the Cubs. What am I missing here?
You're really good with making predictions regarding the Mets but you never predicted the Yankees pitching staff for next year. Who exactly is going to pitch the Yanks into the WS in 2017? Do you have any top pitching prospects? I know the answer to the second question, but I'd like to hear your opinion.

I'll help you out with free agents. There are no good starting pitchers that will be FA next year, so who's going to start for the Yankees?

What exactly are you excited about when it comes to the Yankees, aside from Sanchez hitting more home runs? Your looking at years of being out of the playoffs and at least a decade of no WS titles.

I understand why Mets' fans are excited (WS last year, playoffs probably this year), but any rational Yankee fan can see the problems that organization has moving forward.

Me too, but I am a happy patent attorney. I worked those hours earlier in my career, but after a health scare and other life adjustments, I am in the office 9 hours a day, and no more than 10. When it is slower, 7 or 8. I am making less money, but much happier for it.
This week was a bit longer than most. We had a scheduled production today for Justice (Tens of thousands of documents). I'm glad it's over.

I'll take #1, #2, and #4 from that free agent list. We'll probably trade for a starter.

A Yankee fan wanting Aroldis Chapman. Interesting after what been said by Yankee fans.

Um....you don't really think that I speak for all Yankees fans or that any other Yankees fan speaks for me, do you ?
And your friggin fan base would take Attila the Hun if they thought he could lead them back to the World Series. So stop. Please.

Which pitcher do you have any confidence in going the entire 2017 season without being on DL. Noah? Colon if they sign him? I have zero confidence Matz will ever make it . Wheeler ? Harvey had surgery but nothing involving his elbow or shoulder. de'grom is having a nerve moved and doesn't have structural damage. Man I just depressed myself.

How cute. You though I was watching a mets-Phillies game.
Listen. If they make the playoffs I'll check out some mets action. But why you would expect me to be watching them waltz through a series of games vs. some of the worst teams in MLB....teams that are playing for nothing.... is kinda strange.
I guess that proves you weren't watching. If you saw how the Braves reacted, as if they won the World Series, I hardly say they were playing for nothing. Those kids are hopped up playing to impress for next season, even more dangerous. Sort of like the Yankees, playing for NEXT season to impress.

Yeah but...
"Jose Reyes is a scumbag"
-Yankee fans in this thread.

But will still take on Alrodis Chapman even thought they both had charges vs them dropped. YOU STOP!!!

This just in -- Noah S. has strep throat and will miss tomorrow night's start. Gilmartin will take the spot start.

Good thing we stole one last night.

And this is why they cant throw away games like they did the night before... Or at least 5 other times. If they (or TC/Tuefel) did not bumble those games away, they would have a shot for the division. Gotta take these games seriously.

Wait. Are you talking about the Yankees or the mets ?

Another objective yoice heard.
BTW, you probably posted the exact same thing a month and a half ago.
So I guess he was the first to know. Wasn't that around the time your own GM, and owner came up with the same thought!!!!! Wow Kbee, don't you see the irony of what you just said?lmao

So how many games did the LV 51s started this year instead of degrom, Harvey, Matz? Kelly Johnson, TJ Rivera, instead of DWright or Neil Walker? Hell, Id rather have Sanchez over d'Arnaud right about now.
tico, those excuses are only allowed to be used by Yankee fans. Remember, it's a one way street with them, lol.

Do I really have to explain for you the difference between having won one more game and having lost one more game ? You MUST be a mets fan.
Believe me, I've forgotten more about baseball than you ever knew. Of cousre, you can always win the extra game, but never take back a loss. My point, which you were too dense to pick up on, and were intent on making, was the same 1/2 game lead was a Yankee plus ,but not for the Mets. Guess what, that won't be back in play again. There Go The Yankees,Toast.

I guess one of them said Aroldis Chapmen. I don't think that the Cubs will let him go and I doubt the Yankees can outspend the Cubs given their ownership's newfound reticence to pay the luxury tax. I agree the Yanks have problems in the pen but their starting rotation is a bigger problem. It's probably the worst in the division.

Sabathia, Pineda and Tanaka are the three certainties in the rotation next year. A recovering alcoholic with a degenerative knee, a guy whose elbow is barely connected by a rubber band and a head case. They also have Cessa and Mitchell who don't look like much. They need at least two top of the rotation starters to compete in their division.

They should be able to pick up Sale or Archer but it will cost a lot in prospects. That leaves them short in the bullpen, starting rotation, and I haven't even started on the outfield or first base.

It's going to be a long road back to the playoffs.

Syn, Lugo, and Colon will probably start the season. Gsellman, Ynoa and Montero(ugh) will get an opportunity to make the rotation. Jake and Wheeler should be ready for ST. Harvey and Matz are clearly question marks.

I can see the season starting with Syn, Colon, Jake and Lugo. The fifth may be Wheeler or Gsellman. Depending on Strasberg's health the Mets rotation is either still 1 or 2 in the division. They also have the best 8th and 9th inning pitchers in the division.

I do see your point about worrying about the health of our pitching given this years problems. The depth that we have in pitching though, should keep us competitive for at least the WC.

I worry more about our ability to sign Ces, given our current ownership. He can play in NY and is an incredible clutch hitter(barring any over the wall circus catches). He should be priority 1 in the offseason and a quality catcher, like Ramos, priority number 2.

To those fans that have refused to believe the Mets rash of injuries is borderline historic for a team still in contention, turn on the MLB Network and listen to them. It ain't just Mets fan that know this, all of baseball knows what over the top as far as injuries are concerned is. How the Mets have been able to plug and play regardless of opponents has been nothing short of AMAZING. I'm done trying not to use injuries as an excuse. It is a fact, and I'm saying it from a position of being tied for the top WC spot. Not from a position of despair like our cross town rivals using the seller excuse, when we've used more young Triple A players than them.

The strange thing about baseball is that a team could win 111 games and still not win the World Series..... Stuff happens, the other teams starting pitching staff puts a couple of good games together and all of a sudden, it is over.

Not saying it is going to happen, but I would not be shocked if the Cubs bowed out in short order...

And you wonder why people want to see the letters R.I.P. next to your name.

No....I don't.
Trust me, I've come across mets fans far denser than the lot that's been posting in this thread.
Some of the teary-eyed losers I exchanged pleasantries with back during the 2000 World Series were way, way worse and way, way more hostile.
Good times.
BTW, why you would think I'd give a crap about what some mets fans posting on a message board think of me is kinda puzzling. And not a good indicator of your astuteness.

Nope, I posted this back on August 15th:
The difficulty, though, is that the Yankees need to leapfrog 4 teams (not just the Red Sox) in order to get a wildcard birth. Not impossible, but difficult with only 45 games left.
But with 10 games left and almost the exact scenario, I think it's impossible for them at this point.

I don't understand why he's upset you saw this coming way before he did? After all, his GM and owner realized it about the same time you did.

Which team has used more Triple A players this season, the Yankees or the Mets, "Mr Truth Be Told"? This goes a long way toward your buyers vs sellers argument, and the similar records. Injuries brought our plight on, giving up on the season with an eye toward next season a month and a half early was what the quitters brought on themselves.
