Let's hope Jones starts, not Barrett...

Unfortunately, JT Barrett played most of the 2nd half last night against PSU and he was obviously better at QB than Jones. Personally, I could never understand why Meyer selected Jones over Barrett this year, as Barrett is a much more dynamic runner and I think he's at least as good of a passer. Barrett destroyed us last year with his feet and his passing - I'd far rather be facing the much less dynamic Jones. Hoping Meyer stubbornly sticks with Jones...

I never understood it either. I thought Barrett should have started from game 1 and many pundits as well. But who the hell are we to question Urban Meyer, plus we don't see practice or know if there are any health issues. I do think Jones is a slightly better passer but I don't think enough to equate the added dimension Barrett brings with his excellent mobility. OSU looks like they might be starting to get their stride too in the last game and a half.

I'd prefer Jones too and I wouldn't rule him out completely despite what we saw against PSU but either way I think we'll get a healthy dose of Barrett one way or another.

I honestly believe Meyer wants every team they face this year to have to game plan for both QBs. Then will go with plays that counter those defensive game-planned tendencies.

Jones did win big games last year with amazing play. You dont just bench a guy after winning a NC because the other guys is supposedly a better runner. This year Jones faced passing challenges since he lost a coach and WRs. Jones has a really sweet long ball and he was a killer with Devin Smith (now with Jets) last year. Even if Jones didn't get the ball he stretched the field for Jones to run. Then OSU lost Noah Brown and Corey Smith to injuries. Some others WRs were suspended for awhile (Smith, Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson). The running QBs are ok vs the lesser teams but in playoffs they tend to disappear. Even in NFL those option guys are all crashing and burning. Jones with a long ball and fast/reliable WR helped his running because the field was spread and Jones just barreled over isolated defenders in open field. Barrett is a good player mind you but Meyer got a genie out of the bottle last year

Once jones was announced starter for VaTech I had zero doubt that barret would become the starting QB for our game. Just our luck...

Two words: Tom Hermann

Jones does have a big arm, but the effectiveness of Meyer's version of the spread offense is predicated on having a QB that can run outside and a TB that can run inside. Their offense is a lot more devastating and productive with Barrett, like it was with Miller. Although RU's struggles with pass coverage might make the whole QB issue a moot point.

Pretty sure we'll see mostly Barrett but that Miller with get some snaps in our game too.

So much for that hope. I'm afraid Barrett is going to kill us. Someone needs to get a really good shot on him early to shake him up and maybe make him a little less likely to run wild.

Doubtful. GS ain't coaching the D anymore. We've played some statues this year and have done jack squat in terms of hassling them, forgot about a dude who can run like the wind.

Fears realized. Barrett was superb, both running and passing. He made a very good defense unstoppable. Still can't believe he wasn't starting all year. I expect OSU to repeat as National Champions if he stays healthy.
