It's about twenty minutes out from the first whistle. The parking lot is PACKED, as fans are filing into the RAC to see Rutgers compete in their first Big Ten dual of the season.

Some quick pre-match notes:
-Rutgers weighed in only two kids at one weight class - 133 - lbs. Sammy Alvarez and Zach Firestone are those two wrestlers
-Brett Donner is weighed in at 165 - lbs, over Jackson Turley
-Both Jojo Aragona and Joe Grello are in the lineup, as expected

Kicking things off with Nic Aguilar against Maryland's Brandon Cray. Aguilar in on a takedown right away

Cray with a quick escape and a takedown of his own. 3 - 2 Cray

Aguilar escapes, evening it out at 3-3 with a 1:30 left in the period

Period ends on the feet, keeping the score at 3-3. Fun match so far. Aguilar will start the second on top

Now at 133 - lbs, King Sandoval from Maryland taking on Sammy Alvarez.

Alvarez immediately in on the take to get a 2-0 lead

Alvarez lets Sandoval go, making it 2-1 with 2:00 remaining in the first period

Takedown for Alvarez as the period expires. Alvarez takes a 4-1 lead over Sandoval into the second period. He will start on top

Alvarez rides Sandoval out the entire period. No points added, but over 2:30 of riding time accumulated. He will take a 4-1 lead into the third period, and chooses to start on defense.

Alvarez gets a quick reversal, but Sandoval escapes quickly. The score is 6-2 in the third, with 1:15 left.

Sandoval takes down Alvarez on scramble, but Alvarez quickly hips Sandoval over for the reversal. 8 - 4 with 30 seconds left in the match.

Alvarez rides out the rest of the period, winning 9 - 4 with the riding time point.

Rutgers leads 9 - 0

Jojo Aragona is getting the start against Maryland's Hunter Baxter at 141-lbs

Not a lot of risks taken by Aragona in this one. He definitely is not moving the same as he usually does.

No takedowns by either man in the first period. Aragona chooses to start the second from the feet, with a 0-0 score

Aragona choosing neutral in period 2. Willing to bet the hamstring has something to do with that.

Tough ride the rest of the second period by Aragona. He built up 1:24 of RT in that period. He leads 2-0, and will start the third period on defense.

Jojo Aragona makes several attempts to escape, but Baxter clings on. Baxter rides out Aragona the entire third period, but that won't do anything for him. Aragona comes out with a gritty 2-0 win.

12-0 Rutgers

A couple of half-hearted attempts by both wrestlers, but neither one can get to a score. 0-0 after the first, Angelo starts on top in the second period

Mike Van Brill now taking on Jahi Jones at 157 - lbs. I have a feeling this will be a fun one

Van Brill gets in on a single, but Jones uses a bit of funk to make it into a score of his own. 2-0 Jones with 2:00 remaining in the first period

Van Brill is rode out the rest of the first period. Jones chooses to start the second period on bottom, and quickly escapes.

3-0 Jones, with 1:30 remaining in the second period.

Van Brill gets to another single leg on Jones, but he just cannot manage to finish the shot. Jones did a great job of fighting that off from one foot.

Period ends 3-0, and Van Brill has some work to do in the third. He chooses neutral

Van Brill gets to a shot, and finishes. He has about 40 seconds of RT to erase, and a one point deficit to overcome. 1:00 remaining in the match

Van Brill gets the RT under a minute, and cuts Jones. Jones fights off the scoring attempts from Van Brill, and gets Maryland's first victory of the evening.

18-3 Rutgers, as the match goes to intermission.

Quick intermission note - Stephan Glasgow is on the Rutgers bench tonight. Glasgow was on an indefinite suspension before the season started. More to come on this later tonight

Intermission is over, and we're back in action. Things kick back off at 165-lbs, as Brett Donner battles NJ native, Kyle Cochran.

Donner appeared to get a take off a go-behind, but it was not called. Goodale throws the brick

Don't want to speak to soon, but I like what I am seeing from Donner. Very hard handfight, good movement, and basic, but very sound, technique.

The first period ends with no score. Donner will go on bottom to start the second period

Donner gets to his feet, but is mat returned. Cochran got a figure-four on Donner's leg, and rode him out the rest of the way.

0-0 going into the third, with Cochran owning 2:00 of RT. Cochran is down to start the third period.

Cochran escapes, and puts the first point of the bout on the board. He has RT all but locked up. Meaning, Donner needs a take and a ride most likely to send this to OT
