in light of big east Phils thread of a top notch top candidate rumored to be the top choice that may surprise us, given the hints of info he provided, I thought of these long shot possibilities That would cause us all to celebrate with cartwheels

Archie Miller- the most realistic, given A10 to B1G and he is waiting on the right bigger conference job, not making too much

Chris Mack- yes a long shot, but also not overly expensive

Mick Cronin-making just over 1 million, does he want to be stuck in the American Conference forever? Has always recruited this area

Gregg Marshall- very expensive near 2 Million now, but Wichita St run may be coming to an end, or are they really the next Gonzaga, and does he want the challenge of big time conference ever?

Mark Few- very unlikely, I know, but again, maybe wants the bigger conference challenge, finally

Cronin the only one on that list who might come here. I thought he made 2 million though
Definitely makes more than $1 million and Cincy could be in Big 12 soon if the conference looks to expand.
He was born in Cincy, graduated from Cincy....probably loves Cincy.

I have nothing against Hurley, it's just my personal preference regarding style of play I would like to see at the RAC. I would prefer an uptempo, pressing style coach. Hurley is a grind it out, win 59-52 type of coach. But, a win is a win.

that said, Masielo was my choice last time and this time.

Can someone summarize the issue that Masiello had with his resume? I keep seeing veiled references to this but I don't know anything about it.

Massiello had not graduated from college when he was offered the USF job, he returned to Manhattan and was put on leave to get things resolved.
I know people make it out to be a scandal and a reason to stay away, but Eddie Jordan had not finished his degree either and Rutgers gave him the opportunity to do so.

The difference is that Jordan never said he graduated. Jordan only said he attended Rutgers. (It was Rutgers Athletic Communications who mistakenly identified Jordan as a graduate of Rutgers.)

Have nothing against Hurley??? LOL you bashed not only Danny but the whole Hurley family including their dog incessantly during the season. Why the 180?

Gregg Marshall has already turned down P5 programs much, much more successful than ours.

Lol at bashed the entire Hurley family. Every week I started a thread just to badmouth both Hurley's and the dad. You are amazingly accurate.

Certainly we can have a preference for a style of play but I think that is not a real solid basis to make a hiring decision. He's gotta close recruits and build a program. He can always hire assistants to develop players and draw up plays.

Thanks.

Why not Ed Cooley ?

RU can outpay PC and it's one of the few places where the facilities are comparable.

Ditto Mark Schmidt .

Archie Miller is making $2.2 million per season. The UD portion is around $625k, but there is a private collection he is paid as well. When he got an extension his compensation went from $1.3 to $2.2.

Steve Massiello scandal was that when USF confronted him he allegedly said it was a clerical mistake. Then he allegedly called UK and tried to get someone to change his status to graduated.

Kris Mack is not coming. Great, great facilities and an on campus arena. Great success and recruiting momentum. Plus he played for Xavier.

Russ, those Masielo details are not good.

Just curious....I know you are not a Rutgers fan. BUT, if you had a list, who would be on your top 3 ??

agree, RU fans can throw out sexy names all they want but they have better deals in lesser conferences

Sendek and Hurley are by far the two best options and probably Schmidt the next in line

The issue was Masiello's resume indicated that he had graduated from UK. That was not true.

King Rice
Tim Cluess
Steve Pikiell

I'd also inquire about Brad Underwood's interest level. I like him a lot but he may be the top choice for Central Florida.

We just had one "clueless" HC, we don't need another.....lol

Bac

They don't even have an on campus Arena and the Dunkin Donuts Center is at best average so I don't know how you say their facilities blow RU's away.

Plus he's going to lose his 2 best guys to the NBA and RU can outdo PC on the salary.

Haven't a clue if he would want the job but he's certainly a guy I'd reach out to.

Practice facility and they spend alot on hoops..it dwarfs RU as a destination
