…and 1-4, 3 points. Looked really out of sorts. He’s the X factor. If he’s not crashing the boards, we lose.

Big E only 2 boards but 10 points and caulked his best.

We seemed to be content with the result of the shot in the first half. Assuming we were coached to retreat.

Umm. Bailey played 33 minutes and had 1 rebound. That’s insane. Dylan 35 minutes and 3 rebounds.

agree Martini didnt have a great game but the main reason we lost the game was that Bailey played pretty poorly all around given his ability and what we know he can do. He shot poorly, he made bad decisions often, he didnt rebound and he didnt play defense. Zak Martini is just a role player that didnt do his role. Ace is one of the two main cogs, without both ace and dylan on their game, we are not a good team

the supporting cast isnt all that great and interchanging them isnt going to make the team much better IMO. It is what it is, some now want Grant to start..wtf

There are roles and responsibilities on a roster.....a staff has to find capable and willing defenders and rebounders. Asking Ace and Dylan to do more is part of the solution, but stars will have off nights over 30 to 35 games played. Who steps up when stars are off, is a question.

The offseason chatter about players is just that.....when reality hits players in the face, is when we find out who bounces back and shows up....

Rutgers is going to absolutely suck this year if our two superstars don’t learn quickly to play an all around game. Scoring is fine. If you can’t rebound and play d you will suck. And if you have two guys getting 68 minutes that don’t do either you will be terrible.

Every player has a role to play the fing game. Rebound play defense and yes score. If you don’t do 1 and 2 you suck.

absolutely...if they arent playing defense what example is that going to make for the rest of the bench not as talented, they might as well just get theirs.....one thing we do not see is chemistry or any semblence of team ball and that is up to Pike to get fixed. To me we have got worse each game actually from game 1 to game 5.

FWIW I think Dylan is doing just that. I thought he was really impressive today. Got to the rim and finished through some serious contact. 21 points on 10-18 shooting. 4.5 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. 3 boards and 2 steals on defense.

Obviously Ace is the one who needed to do way more today. One rebound after 10 against Merrimack is quite disappointing. Unfortunately I think it was just a frosh mistake of thinking he was going home to put on a show and not play a complete game of basketball. Those boys from KSU didn't want to hear about all americans and first round picks they wanted to protect their home floor and they did just that.

If you’re 6’6” and you play 35 minutes and you want to win games you need to rebound. He’s a great talent and I’m sure he’s giving 100%. If we have two guys 6 10 and 6 6 combining for 4 rebounds we are going to be absolutely terrible.

Most important stat: 39% shooting (KSU 47%).

We missed 40 shots (KSU missed 32 shots).

They won offensive rebounds, we won turnovers. As a result we took 6 more shots.
Gary Waters often said the most vital part of the game is putting the ball through the hoop. Can't argue with that. To be sure, there are other aspects of the game we need to improve upon, but simply, if we shot better in the first half we would have won.

I agree with you, but he is averaging 5 a game for the season and is currently our third leading rebounder. I think he's doing just about everything he can and has been awesome this year. I don't think he should be put in the same convo as Ace right now.

Making shots wins games of course. But sometimes it doesn’t go in. Rebounding and defense travel and are controllable. That’s why they are so important and separate good teams from bad teams. If you don’t rebound and play good defense you will be terrible.

I kind of agree in a way but he is one of two elite talents on the team. Him grabbing 3 rebounds in 35 minutes is not going to cut it.

Better defense. Rebounding.
He has no pattern of defense or rebounding in his career at Princeton....he averaged 1 rebound for every 10 minutes played at Princeton last year (3.3 REBS per game) in almost 30 minutes vs mostly Ivy competition.

This pickup never made any sense on any level, unless it was a complimentary role off the bench as an energy guy. Once you add in that there are very few FT attempts coming from this spot with drives off the dribble, there's no path towards offsetting the production opponents are getting from this spot on the floor. It's baffling that fans could be disappointed, when the player hasn't done this before in his career and is being asked to do so, against elite and better players than the Ivy offers.

Great kid, wants to be at RU, local product etc, but someone has to add production for the games where Ace and Dylan don't score 45PTS.

Yes, I never saw him as a starter because of lack of production and no knack for rebounding.

Another stat that jumped out at me: Dylan Harper with 0 Free Throw attempts.

For as often as he takes it to the rim, and through contact, how is that possible?
