Lunardi Bracketology FWIW

We disagree here. Creighton’s last six losses were:

Arkansas by 3
Arizona by 2
Nebraska by 10 (rivalry game but bad loss)
At BYU by 3
At Arizona State by 2
At Marquette by 9

They have also beaten #23 Texas Tech by 11.
Their big man is one the best defenders in the country.

No

If you generously assume Creighton is the 25th best team, them being 10 points better than us would put us at roughly 130th.

No, it’s about matchups and we matchup terribly with them IMO.
If you think it’s some specific matchup problem and they aren’t actually 10+ points better than us against other teams, how is it relevant to bracketology?

I didn’t look at this closely but we certainly don’t belong in the field right now. We have one quality win (at home) and Indiana was missing a starter and is proving not to be as good as previously billed. We lost to two average teams (Seton Hall at home and Temple), and an above average team in Miami. We choked in two of them and were out of the other one almost the entire game. We have zero wins away from the RAC. I think Creighton would beat us by 10+ right now. No problem with this.
What about a 6 game losing streak makes you think they would beat Rutgers by double digits when no team has?

There are two pints here. 1. We don’t belong in the field and Creighton (arguably) does right now.
2. If anyone is comparing us to Creighton head-to-head, and there could have been that assumption since the OP seemed annoyed that Creighton was included and we were not, I think Creighton would beat us head to head ….AND also given their body of work, they undoubtedly deserve to be ranked above us.

IMO, I think we match up terribly with them. For one, I think Cliff would be a non-factor. If the game was at the RAC, maybe it’s closer.

Rutgers losses

Temple - without 2 starters
Miami - close loss without Paul
#25 OSU - really a win. B1G apology
SHU - down to wire. Another blown call. Did better than Creighton in their rivalry game

Also destroyed #11 Indiana. Caleb is one of the best defenders in the country. Paul one of the best passers. Cliff one of the best dunkers

When six game losing streaks happen to other programs, there are extenuating circumstances and things aren't as bad as they appear. When they happen to us, we totally suck and Pike can't recruit. That's how it works with our fans.

The Creighton center is also the Big East defensive player of the year and I think Cliff’s two foot dunks would be non existent. 4 of Creighton’s losses could easily have been wins. The quality of teams Creighton has played Blows our schedule away.

You look at the Seton Hall game as a blown call away but I think we got more calls than they did and we played abysmally bad.

We can agree to disagree and we’ll never know anyway….unless we get them in the tournament.

More on topic, I assume his bracket at this point is a prediction, not a “if the season ended today” right? If a field were literally selected today I think it’s very unlikely either Rutgers or Creighton make it. I think both have a good chance by the end of the season though (Rutgers more than Creighton)

I thought it meant “now”. I actually think both of us make it at the end.

This is completely absurd reasoning, if 4 of Creighton’s losses could have been wins then if you want to even pretend you are being remotely consistent you have to say that two of our losses could easily have been wins.
My “4 of their losses could be wins” was referring to the fact they were all 2-3 point losses and was in response to “close loss without Paul”, bad call vs Seton Hall”, etc. Indiana was missing a 5 star starter vs us too.

Every team will have a ton of excuses and “what ifs” in close losses. I agree, none of it should apply. But if any of it does, then it goes both ways.

Stop with this insane discussion that has gone off the rails and turned into a ridiculous Creighton resume versus Rutgers resume debate. How in the world do you think there are 37 better at large teams than Rutgers ? We are a borderline top 25 team and that Ohio state game was the killer. We were getting 7 and 2 votes in the Coaches poll until this week’s poll. The seton Hall loss is inexcusable as clearly the worst the team has played but it is a rivalry game. Magoo criticizes the losses but doesn’t reward the wins and how badly we have won. Besides beating the cupcakes by 40 and beating UMASS Lowell by 8 we beat Indiana by 15 and Wake Forest by 24. We didn’t leave a doubt and we’re dominate in both games. We didn’t get dominanted by Ohio State , Miami , Seton Hall or Temple., and Ohio State and Miami are ranked 25 or 26th in the country., which is clearly our neighborhood. We just came up short in games we should have won . We are the 4th ranked most efficient defense in the country. That travels home and away. We are likely one of the top 25-35 teams in the country right now. We are now healthy. Not having Rutgers in the field is asinine regardless of whether Creighton deserves to be or not.

1 or 2 game losing streak and the morons come out attacking Pike and recruiting. If there was ever a 6 game losing streak, it would be anarchy

Or we could easily be undefeated. Easier to make that argument than turning 6 loses into wins for Creighton

We had anarchy last year …called DePaul , Lafayette and umass

It took four ranked wins a row.. Michigan state , Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio state …a historic feat….to quell the insurrection

Barely

1/2/2021 => 1/21/2021

Even I started to lose my mind.. getting robbed of NCAAs in 2020, getting to #11 in the rankings, and then losing 5 in a row and looking like we weren't going to make the tournament. Dark times.

Take care of business in B1G play and the Temple and SHU losses won't matter.

Currently 1-1 (should be 2-0 and everyone knows it) with a convincing win over a ranked IU team.
