Rinse and repeat. Efficient again. 5 of 6, 10 points , couple of assists, 1 turnover.

Appears he has realized what type of player he is and has been playing to his strengths.

Mag is awesome

Next year watch the F out

That was my same thought ! He seems to be figuring it out with small improvements each game. He seems like a candidate to step right into Caleb's shoes next season as the defensive specialist and dare I say .. maybe he has slightly more offesnive upside than Caleb? He can't (yet) really create a shot like Caleb can, but he shoots the three much better.

Mag's ceiling is higher than Caleb just bc he's a more twitchy athlete. Mag is an elite level athlete with size strength and length. He is more explosive and I really do expect his offensive game to really come around next season. We have seen flashes

His twitch is his greatest strength on defense but is often a huge liability for him on offense. Quickly getting out of control. Moving too fast into his shots. Using his leaping ability to shoot, rather than footwork. A lot of the same issues I see with Cliff on offense as well. Its just body control and mastery. Very hard to do when you're that fast and everyone around you is speeding you up.

Mag actually has solid low post moves to get easy buckets. You're right, Mag can't create space for himself on outside shots, but if you throw it to him while his feet are set, he'll knock down 3s.

What? 5-6 with 1 turnover is out of control. Being fast and athletic is a detriment to being a good offensive player?

The last two games he's been terrific and under control. Like i said .. hes been making great strides and improvement and very excited for his future.

And yes .. being fast and athletic CAN be a detriment to being a good offensive player. Big time. See Jacob Young, Cliff, etc. All players who when they control their athleticism are elite. But when they don't , its hurt to watch and basically an automatic turnover. Its a good problem to have. You'd much rather have it, than not.

Loved Mag since day one but also knew the skiny ass kid needed time to mature both physically and bball smarts wise....we are now seeing the results of his development! Can't wait to see him next year!!

Mag no 3 point attempts, instead made the easy shots inside .. no one on our team seems to make those consistently except him. And he always seems to find himself open. Keep it up !!

This off-season I was a believer that we would see some sort of break out in him this year.
I got my confidence shaken on this earlier this year and asked you in about him in the hallway at the RAC.
You held firm.
You were right.
Glad to see it. Kudos on the call Scang.

Mag truther from day 1. Never wavered. He is still nowhere near his ceiling. Still a lot of untapped potential to be had

his release point on his short range jumper seems very high. and he's so disruptive and relentless when he doesn't have the ball. remarkable improvement overall for Mag.

He is demonstrating more control and better judgement on offense. Combine that with incredible energy, awesome D, hustle, rebounding, and playing like he loves the game… he will continue to get better and could be a difference maker for us.

Over the last 7 games Mag is shooting 25-43 from the floor, 4-8 from 3 and 15-20 from the line. He has scored 69 points, shade under 10 per game with 3 games in double figures and 2 with 9.
So it has not just been the last two games.

Mag is a good example for the current Simpson bashers - give them a chance to develop!
A lot of posters have short memories. If Simpson turns into a stud next year, those same people will say they knew it all along. What'the saying for people who speak from both sides of their mouth:
The Batman character Two-face.

His shot is more fluid too. I love Caleb but his shot from long range looks like he is shooting a 25 pound medicine ball.

His progression and development has been nice to watch.

And it's impressive that there were at least 5 other senior players on Mag's 2020 Prolific Prep HS team that were rated higher than Mag in most 2020 recruit ranking lists. Only Jalen Green, who chose G-League Ignite and was the 2nd overall player picked in the 2021 NBA draft, is playing significantly better than Mag, and Coleman Hawkins, who we're familiar with, currently has better stats than Mag at 9.5 PPG and 6.4 RPG, vs Mag at 7.9PPG and 5.4RPG, but Hawkins has played 5 or 6 more minutes per game... But Namari Burnett, Frank Anselem, and Saba Gigiberia who were also ranked higher have all transferred from their original college teams, and have current stats that are no better than, or are inferior to, Mag's current stats. Props to Mawot and to the coaches.

Excellent. Marked you wonder about the politics of rankings and is PP has some influence and also about the culture at PP
