Scarlet Knights look for 24th consecutive victory over in-state rival Tigers

Rutgers wrestling (10-6, 4-5) closes out the 2019-20 dual schedule when it faces No. 14 Princeton (8-4) on Sunday at Jadwin Gym. The 6 p.m. dual will stream live via ESPN+. WRSU (88.7 FM) will have the radio broadcast.

Did Princeton hold Glory and Monday out of the Penn and Drexel match last weekend to give them a break?

Looks like 6-4 Princeton unless Donner and/or Scott come through.

Score could be worse than just 6-4 given the strength they have at 125, 149, 157 and 197. All of them top 5 nationally. Surprised they have lost 4 duals but I guess Kolodzik’s late return explains that.

Rutgers has been the big brother in New Jersey wrestling for the last decade. Princeton, however, is looking to change that trend.

Coach Ayers has done a tremendous job recruiting over the years, compiling his best team to date. Princeton felt they were going to win last year’s battle, but came up short. So, it is a guarantee that the Tigers are seeking revenge in their home gym.

Rutgers is coming in as the underdog, a position they are not too familiar with against Princeton. Despite this loaded Princeton team’s firepower, Rutgers feels they can pull off the upset.

Glory yes that'll be a tech, Kolodzik is just coming back and rusty maybe a major he faded in the Cornell match gassing and getting called for stalling. Monday and Brucki aren't high scorers. However, Princeton has blown past us and this one looks to be a 7-3 split. It'll easily be their 1st win in 24 yrs.. Princeton's recruiting is just getting better and better I'm not optimistic for future wins in this series.

New Jersey D1 Wrestling at its best.
Hopefully, Rutgers will win a few close individual matches.
But, Princeton is definitely favored this year.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Princeton has been without some starters the last week or two. Maybe some are nursing injuries and resting for the conference tournament. But most likely they were just resting to be 100% against us.

0% we are getting anything but their best lineup today assuming no one is seriously injured or in jeopardy of missing the postseason.

so excited to commentate my 1st @ncaawrestling dual this sunday! tune in via @espn to watch @RUWrestling verse @tigerwrestling for the #BattleOfJersey as an athlete @TheNJRTC i honestly dont know who is gonna come out on top & i cant wait for 6pm Sunday!

PS- it was Penn that held out their 125 ( #8 Colaicco, Blair) against Princeton), not sure if it was for injury or other reason.

Princeton's staff and program is dying to beat Rutgers after a close to 30 year drought, It will be all hands on deck for them. Should be a great meet.

My mistake, I was thinking of Penn holding Colaccio out against Paetzall of Lehigh. I tuned into that match just for that bout. This time of year we see a lot of that, and I am afraid we will see more if it in the Conference tourneys as soon as some guys reach a point in the tournament when their NCAA spot is guaranteed with the conference allocations. Last year the Big10 had about 7 MFFs during the medal rounds.

Yup, they're looking to check all the boxes this season for their historic run. Beat Cornell for Ivy dual season championship for 1st time ever, beat Rutgers for 1st time in 24 yrs., 1st EIWA championship and maybe just maybe a top 5 finish at NCAA's(top ten seems to be already in the bag)

I think it was 5, but the best part is 0 of those guys went on to win the national title and I think 3 didn’t even reach AA status.

Talk about gaming the system. Look what Iowa State just did. Is there a coach more destructive to college wrestling than Dresser? No ethics

Aye, coach I was a big fan growing up! First wrestling clinic I ever been to was yours at CJA. I knew the roots. Maybe one day @CoachGoodale will tell you the weigh in story behind the animosity haha! Instant classic! Hype for tomorrow! #GoKnights.

It looks like Iowa State hosted some kind of open tournament with mostly only Iowa State wrestlers. Several of their starters participated in the open despite having a dual scheduled vs Mizzou. Many of the wrestlers injury defaulted literally 1 second into the match, including their guy at 184 picking up 4 injury default victories in a total of 5 seconds.

This gives their wrestlers a higher win% which helps their seeding in their conference tournament.
