Quick update we did on Matthue Cotton as he speaks on Rutgers, a program that is among the top-five for him early on this winter. Cotton is a three-star shooting guard that is more than likely a four-star guy once we update the next time around. He is a great shooter of the basketball and very talented; would be a great pick-up.

Great stuff Corey.

I would assume this statement by him about engineering helps our cause:

“A good education, I really like engineering,” he said. “I want to be an architectural engineer; I believe that’s really important.”

SCOUTING REPORT
Overall: A rapidly-developing prospect, Cotton's ceiling has risen quite a bit over the last 6-8 months, and a move to St. Benedict's (N.J.) should only further his growth. Growing in ability and assertiveness seemingly by the day, Cotton is starting to turn heads with his consistent, high-level play over the last few months. The 6-foot-4 lefty, a 3-point specialist early on in his career, is really starting to develop his off-hand dribbling ability so he can take defenders off the bounce, which in turn makes him a more effective outside shooter with opponents forced to respect his all-around game. While a year ago he looked more like a slightly undersized ‘3’, Cotton now has the look of a true off-guard, especially if he continues to develop in these same areas. His recruitment has already reached Atlantic 10 levels (July 2016), and high-major schools are starting to show serious interest. If he can show the ability to play the '2' spot at a consistently high level over his junior year, Cotton should see the offers pour in when he hits the 17U circuit in 2017.

barring any transfers (obviously this will change the number), how many ships do we have for '18?

Well ... I believe current Juniors are Mike Williams, Sa, Freeman, Doorson and Nigel Johnson. If Sanders returns for next season, I would not count on him coming back for his Senior season. So that is 5 or 6 available scholarships if I counted right.

Of the teams mentioned,I would be most worried about Villanova because of their national stature and their long history of recruiting shooting guards .

Doorson has 2 years left after this year
