Maybe Flood's only goal is to go 6-6, not 1-0

Despite all the 1-0 bullcrap, maybe flood is just shooting for 6-6, knowing that it will save his job, and him thinking laviano gives him the best chance of that.

After Michigan destroys is, we have 3 teams we have a legit shot at beating. Maybe he thinks those odds are higher with laviano and he's fine with that because he knows the administration (until it gets more $) is fine with that.
 
but if he goes 1-0 this week, doesn't that give him a much better chance at 6-6? If he feels LAviano is his best chance to win 3 of 4, why would he change QB's? that just makes no sense. If he feels Rettig gives him the best to win 3 of 4, he should go with him this week.
 
Yes but there is no way he can really think laviano can beat Michigan just like he couldn't beat osu or Maryland. He is putting all his eggs in army, Nebraska and Maryland.
 
I could very easily see us losing out, especially without Carroo. Army almost beat TTFP away. Nebraska and Maryland have looked far more competitive in losses.

Nebraska just lost to Purdue. We at least beat Indiana - a better team.

MD looked better against OSU - until they didnt. They didnt look so hot getting blown out by Bowling Green or WVU though did they.

We might lose out. We might win the last three - in all likelihood we probably win two of those and Flood keeps his job.

So what Nebraska lost to Purdue? 5 TO's in the rain will do that to most teams and sure as hell us! They also came *this* close to beating Wisconsin.

Maryland moved the ball, and scored, on both PSU and OSU. No way in hell I'm chalking that one up!

It's just another way of saying that we have to take it one game at a time.

You do know that pretty much every coach uses some variation on that as a mantra right?

but no other coach brings it up EVERY single time he speaks. it's honestly become like an answering machine. 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0. Other coaches don't make it the only substantive thought and program direction they offer. They say 'yah, you inow we have to work on this and that, and try new things, and inevitably just keep our attention on trying to go 1-0 this week."

honestly, if you guys don't see the difference. just look at his quotes from the last 8 games

I have at least 18 up-and-coming high school coaches I need to pimp, plus that D3 OC no one has heard of.

And think of all the "if Barchi cared" threads that would have to wait an extra day to be started.

0-1 is 1-0!!!

Im not sure how anyone is counting on any of the remaining games as a win. I honestly feel we lose out the rest of the year, yet Flood will return.

I have no idea how our D is going to stop Army's option O. Very few of these guys have played against an offense like this, in college, and I don't believe "assignment" football is a strength of ours right now.

"look at his quotes". Why do some fans put so much stock in what a coach or a player says? Do you really think they're going to be forthcoming with the press? It's coachspeak, or playerspeak and they all do it. "One game at a time", "our mindset is good", etc.
 
It is coach speak and quite honestly, the only way you can go about it in a short football season.

Btw- ok, so there is always a chance any team can lose or win on any given day but those of you not willing to put Army as a win, I'm sorry but please just go somewhere else.

And if we do lose, then we have a team that should have won a single game this year.

Well he's 0-0 so far this week so he's got that going for him.
 
But anyone that says they are tired of it will have the same 5 posters calling them a Floodite or they have their head in the sand.

If we were really trying to go 1-0 each week then or game plans make 0 sense.

Trying to go 1-0 would be putting in trick plays and high risk rewards plays vs teams like Ohio State & Michigan State.

We seem to run or system week in and we'll out which helps us improve our playing style. That helps is over the course of the season. Weaker teams we will hopefully beat because we improved or core style. Stronger teams will shut down or system and play calling as it is.

Rumor had it Flood was gone when the e-mail investigation was going on.
That investigation found some things that might have been been helpful if Flood was fired for cause once the results of that investigation was handed in.
Flood survived that, what makes you think Flood will be drowned by this one.

Because not following another program he was warned about will be the end. And the email report was edited. It was much worse than published. He is not the nice guy as advertised

Kind of. Yes he's saying one game at a time, but he's also saying win each week.

He'll say something along the lines of..."as coaches it's our job to do what we've got to do to put this team in a position where they can be 1-0 this week."

I'm pretty sure he's actually said exactly that. Most people on this board don't think he's actually doing that.

I would probably be okay with it if we were competitive in these games, but we're not. We get our asses kicked in most games and it just makes him sound like an idiot at every presser when he says the whole 1-0 thing.

Not to mention he coaches not to go 0-1. He definitely does not coach to be 1-0.

There have been very public conversations about ignoring drug tests for 2 years.
 
You mean we have been cheating for 2 years and this is still the best we can do?
Flood has been trying to keep his two star players on the field since day one. After the email suspension this surprises you?
 
Honestly...you Flood "diss" nitwits..YOU arent fans....I hope when you get your NEW coach from Fordham or New Hampshire(those are the best that will apply)...I hope Flood signs on at Purdue....and kicks YOUR asses for the crap way YOU fans and the university treated him......you "fans"(most of whom never even ATTENDED a class at RU) embarass me...
