Men’s Lacrosse Hosted St. John’s on Tuesday

I mean, clearly Rutgers doesn’t care. It’s St.John’s in a Tuesday at 3 pm not Maryland on a Saturday. Might as well make it an even $20
Seriously? They could charge $2 and there would be about the same number of people here. Jobs and school are keeping most fans away, not ticket prices.

But it is turning out to be a fun game (unless you're a SJU fan), on a gorgeous spring afternoon.

I think St. John's is taking the brunt of what's been happening with the offense. Keep pouring it on.

Guys are seeing what happens when high percentage type of shooting takes place.

Just what the doctor ordered. You could see the confidence growing by the minute on offense. Lots of good film to look at, including the shooting fundamentals displayed and the goals that led to.

You come off a tough loss three days later, playing a sloppy first quarter. That could have continued, but it did not. A positive experience for an offense that wasn't getting it done. Now you have something to build on.

Young guys are susceptible to the whims of games, good and bad. It was good to see them fight through some early game sluggishness to start really clicking.

St. John's isn't a B1G team but we hit them from all sides today. That's big for a young offense. Most impressive was the fundamental shooting display. Much different than what we have seen to date. I also liked that they were getting the ball inside and some of of the goals came from in close. That opens up the outside even more.

A lot to like from today, including effort, which is always there in the program. These mid week games can be really tough, especially after all that was put into Princeton. Today may be a turning point.

In comes a good Umass team. We shall see.

Had the start of the game on in my office, up to the 4-3 SJU, then dropped for conference calls. Was very happy to see the final score once the calls ended. Checked out some replays later.

Is Shane Murphy at the X new? Seemed to really work.

He’s been there the last couple of games but you can see he’s getting more comfortable.

Just getting in from day of meetings and travel. Love to hear the reports of good ball movement and better shooting/arm angles etc. seems to be exactly what the doctor ordered. Now we need to make this a trend and keep moving in the right direction. Great stats. Let’s go!!

Murphy seemed to split time with Kulas at X, and Kulas was a pleasant surprise today with 3 assists and 0 TOs. Murphy had a banner day with 3 goals and 3 assists.

The offense had 15 assists on 21 goals, which is a clear indication of better off-ball movement and more passing to get cleaner looks. Haydn Sommer also had 3 assists, mostly operating from the top and wing. His no-look pass to Colin in front (which Colin buried) was a thing of beauty.

He's a guy who always has a bad word for RU and is a cheap bastsrd.
None of his posts were about the actual game lol. Probably wouldn't even pay for the streaming service so couldn't watch it lol

People were upset after Princeton and I was too because that game was so winnable, but you could see the offense was starting to flow and the ball and player movement was much, much better in settled offense. Our shooting was just terrible.

St. John's was similar movement but our shooting was light years better. Different release points and level changes. And we worked the ball inside for even better looks and dunks, including some plays made around the crease.

Again, St. John's isn't a B1G team or Umass, but there was a lot to like. 15 assisted 21 goals alone tells you the guys and ball were moving.

The D has a few things to clean up- our shorties weren't the locks they've been, but some of that was fatigue I am sure. Princeton, like every team, was going at those guys all night Sat. and with the offense we run, we ask more of our shortsticks than maybe any team in the country.
