16 Team, 54 hole event in Vero Beach, Fl includes 6 teams currently in the D1 Top 50 (out of 305). #29 Notre Dame heads the field followed by #32 Cinncinatti and #42 North Florida. The B1G is well represented with 7 teams. Along with #91 RU are #48 NW, #49 Indiana, host school #56 MSU, #59 Wisc, #101 PSU, and #207 Maryland. All in all, 13 of 16 teams are ranked in the Top 100. A strong finish would boost RU's ranking after the very poor finish last time out.

Rutgers will go with the 4 who've played every tourney so far in Sr Xavier Marcoux, Sr Luke Wells, Jr Rhett Sellers, and So Weston Jones along with Fr James Newton.

The teams will play 36 holes tomorrow (Sunday) and the final 18 Monday.

After this tourney the team will break until the B1G Match Play Feb 3 - 4.

After shooting a team -8 in the morning round Rutgers stands 9th of 16.

Rutgers was led by Frosh James Newton's 4 Under 68, good for a T8. Weston Jones and Luke Wells added 2 Under 70's with Xavier Marcoux and Rhett Sellers shooting Even Par 72's.

Notre Dame leads at -14 with North Florida 1 stroke behind at -13. 4 teams are tied for 3rd at -11. 12 teams shot -6 or better. 62 of 84 participants shot Even Par or better.

The 2nd Round is currently under way.

For Rutgers the 2nd Round turned into the Xavier Marcoux show. Teeing off on #10 he played his 1st 9 two under. After the turn he caught fire shooting a 31 on his 2nd nine. He Eagled both the 622 yard Par 5 3rd hole and the 575 yard Par 5 7th. His 7 Under 65 is the 2nd lowest score so far in the tourney and moved him into a tie for 9th.

James Newton and Luke Wells shot Even Par 72's, Weston Jones shot 73, and Rhett Sellers 74.

As a team Rutgers shot -6 moving up 2 spots into a tie for 7th with Northwestern at -14.

North Florida leads at -28, one stroke ahead of Notre Dame and 2 ahead of Liberty and Missouri. The rest of the field is bunched pretty closely with 7 strokes separating 5th place from 14th place.

Round 3 was not good to Rutgers as their -5 dropped them 4 places into a tie for 11th with PSU at -19. The -5 was the 4th worst score out of 16. Just seem to have trouble keeping it together for 3 rounds.

Rhett Sellers had an unusual day, After a quintuple Bogey 10 on his 3rd hole he finished his round with 9 Birdies and 2 Bogeys for a final round score of 2 Under 70. He twice Birdied 3 holes in a row.

Xavier Marcoux led RU with a 3 round total of -8, good for a tie for 14th. He was followed by Luke Wells at -5, James Newton -2, Rhett Sellers -1, and Weston Jones +1.

North Florida won the Tourney with a 3 day total of -39 followed by Liberty and Michigan State at -36. MSU, 2 strokes behind RU going into the final, shot a team -23 today. Northwestern who was tied with RU for 7th came in with a -19. Rutgers did finish 8 strokes ahead of both Maryland and Wisconsin.

Yeah, tied for 12th not 11th. Makes it a bigger last round meltdown.

Of the 5 Fall Tourneys, 4 times the team dropped in the final round including once by 7 places and once by 5. The only time they improved was by 1 spot.

Reactions: Tango Two
Angry w/me Tango? It's been brought up before.

BTW the Women's team is down to 5 players (the minimum for most tourneys) after another member is no longer on the roster. Last year there were 8 players but they didn't sign any recruits and 3 members from the Spring are no longer on the team.
