Men's Soccer Announces 2016 Recruiting Class

Wonder what happened with Chaz Burnett. That's a big disappointment that he's not listed, but we're certainly bringing in some quality talent regardless. Our depth is going to be unreal, tons of competition for playing time.

RU23, believe you are right on re: depth & competition. Excited for this team.

Anyone know how this class compares to the rest of the Big 10?
It's hard to tell with soccer recruiting because of international players and a lack of overall coverage. The one thing to look for is kids who played at top academies, and we did well in that regard with this class.

From this one site it looks like Maryland and Ohio State had amazing classes, while Indiana and Michigan St. had solid classes as well. Maryland will always be the top dog, while the rest of the B1G provides very solid competition. No easy wins in this conference, in any sport.

It is interesting that the group has five transfers. I sure each transfer has their own reason for the change. Some maybe upgrading to a D1 or coming home or joining fellow countrymen (Jamaica). Is RU soccer becoming a better destination for players.
Either way the team will have new players and 5 will some game maturity.

Just watched PDA fall 4-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the U18 Development Academy semis. Score certainly wasn't indicative of the match; it was very even. Looked like Scheidt (headed to RU) played defensive midfield, had one nice shot which the goalie saved but didn't do much else. PDA's best two players were by far Josh Burnett (rising senior) and Isaiah Young (US youth player headed to Wake Forest - scored PDA's lone goal). Burnett is an incredible dribbler and Young is electrifying - they just got a little unlucky today. Burnett's older brother Chaz was committed to us but didn't sign for some reason. Chaz didn't do much in this game but he would've been a strong presence to add to our mix up top, and he can score goals.

PDA also has kids headed to UCLA, Notre Dame, Villanova, etc. and also had two kids who would've played on this team but signed professional contracts - James Murphy signed today to Sheffield Wednesday (his father is the director of PDA and his younger brother played in the game) and Danny Barbir who has been playing with Man City and West Brom youth teams.

We need to keep more of these kids home - the best non-MLS affiliated development academy in the country trains literally 15 minutes from our campus...

We never really heard what happened with the older Burnett kid. Would be interesting to know given not only his skills but his younger brother's as well.

We are losing a couple of staters from last year to injury for the season. A couple of important guys.

PDA won 4-0 in the 3rd place match. Chaz Burnett had two goals while Josh Burnett and Isaiah Young each had one.

Not sure why it is OK to mention one but leave the other until its obvious. I am hoping its not Wright or the Goalie.
