The Saddle River Day senior just broke Anne Donovan's Bergen County career scoring record.
And she's got most of her senior year left to play.
She signed with Michigan. Did Rutgers ever offer ?

Suburban? Private school? No. The same will apply to Brynn Farrell from Metuchen who now goes to St Rose in Belmar . And the girls from Manasquan as well. Notre Dame ?Michigan ?BC?Yup. RU? No.

Saddle River Day is unreal. Besides Sidor they have girls going to Duke and Arizona State.

cvs does not recruit that type of player, history speaks for itself, its a shame but it is what it is

Wait...what type of player ?
I've seen her play many times over the last few years and I can't see what skills she doesn't possess that one would need in a guard.
Michigan apparently liked her talent.
Again, did we offer ?

If you know anything about Waretown you know exactly what the is implying.

Everyone knows there are Jersey players from these types of rich private schools that look down on Rutgers...no need to waste time recruiting them.

So...no...we didn't offer ?
We didn't wanna waste our time ?
Or we couldn't compete with that far-classier University of Michigan ?

I have no idea....the waste of time comment is my opinion regarding rich private school girls going to Rutgers.

Edit...Yes they did.

Players like Sidor don’t come along that often. She will likely set the Bergen County record for points early next season, and she’s been recruited since eighth grade. Rutgers made her an offer before high school.

Thank you.
I honestly was curious and a little worried that RU wouldn't have pursued what is clearly a special talent.
I've seen a number of her games and was kinda hoping she would be playing in Piscataway...not Ann Arbor.

Diamond Miller going to Maryand, that is why the win over Maryland was sweet.

We score enough points now. Why would we want a 35 ppg scorer to upset the chemistry ? She was destined to break records the minutes she stepped on the court as a freshman.
You're right, not our type of recruit.

I don't know if you've seen Sidor play much, but if you did you'd want her to play for Rutgers.

If you are a football recruit or a men's basketball recruit I can see you thinking you're too good for Rutgers.
But Michigan's women's basketball ? i don't think so.

And the Mulcahy kid is coming from where ?

Ditto Harper

As most of the high end Private School players in football and hoops he's on scholly.

In NJ that's just the drill.

Check the Top 10 of football and boys and girls hoops----mostly private schools with high end players who are there on either the school's dime or some donor.

big talk, ive been a PAYING supporter of rutgers WBB longer than you have been alive. my point is 6 nj players are rated in the top 100 and none of them has been persued by stringer. its not only this year but just about every year, she seems to have the john chaney approach to recruiting. enough said GO RUTGERS!!

Matee Ajavon, Essence Carson, Jordan Wallace (current), Aliyah Jeune, Ashli Jeune, Alex Alfano, Bryona Canty, Syessence Davis, Christa Evans, Britany Lapidas, Shalena Richardson, Jayme Tucker, Rashidat Junaid, and Heather Zurich - just going back 11 years - all NJ.

Not all successful, not all stars, but all NJ. And a lot from the surrounding area including Delaware, Philly and New York. Plus a lot of national recruiting.

Also - this for Waretown - it was posted above in an article that yes, Rutgers certainly pursued the title athlete.

I will say that the prep schools mostly do not play the style that Vivian wants to play, so Rutgers might be less appealing to the athlete as well as the coaching staff realizing the change will not come easily. Coaches like Harry at Villanova have a system that thrives on a style akin to what prep players have in their experience and I would be shocked if he doesn't recruit well in them. TG also made a living recruiting that market. But it was a different day and age.

Guess Maryland doesn't recruit in state.
Only has one more from that state on roster than Stringer has from Jersey.
Well wonders of wonders:
Geno doesn't have one player from Connecticut
on his roster.

Guess Geno and Brenda aren't recruiting the right way because they seem to go for recruits they feel will thrive in their system, instead of just relying on homegrown talent that might be bad fits.
Or just want to leave state to play their College ball.

I think some just might want to find something/anything to criticize CVS about, even if it's unwarranted.

As others above mentioned, CVS has long recruited both in and outside NJ. In fact, our starters for the championship game were ALL players who grew up within an hour of RU:

Kia Vaughn (NYC)
Heather Zurich (NJ)
Essence Carson (NJ)
Piph (NYC)
Matee Ajavon (NJ)

I agree I'd like to see more of NJ's top players staying home, but success will breed success. Also, aint nobody trying to turn down All Americans like Maori Davenport just because she's from Alabama.

stop with the 11 years ago crap, im talking about now. who care about years ago, only losers, you go after local stars early, viv has no interest in recruiting nj anymore.

how about UConn and Maryland along with probably a ;lot more WBB programs having rosters that have very few home state players.
WBB recruiting is nation wide now and 11 years ago Rutgers could compete with homegrown players filling roster.

Also New Jersey in a major hunting ground for major programs who have recruiters especially
good at convincing Jersey players to go out of state for their college years.
NJ is one of the states that it seems to have high school players looking out of state to play and that's in all the sports Rutgers has.
That makes it easier for out of state programs to mine the better Jersey HS talent and harder for every RU HC to keep them at home.

Update: Sidor had 27 tonight vs. Emerson Boro. Which is exactly how many points Emerson scored in the game.

Michelle just hit 3,000 career points.....becoming the third woman to get to 3,000 in NJ high school basketball history.

That's nice.
Hopefully getting a NCAA invite will make RUWBB fans not worry about who isn't coming next year and be glad for the recruits that will come and help make RU a constant Tourney program.

Michelle ended her high school career with the second most career points of any NJ woman.
Saddle River Day lost in the women's final to Franklin.

The problem is bigger than you think. Take a look at the rosters for Women’s Golf and Women’s Volleyball. Your tax dollars are educating women who don’t even call the USA home. For a State University, I’d prefer to subsidize local athletes with my tax dollars. These women will get their degrees and go home to Europe and Asia. Until this year I was a fairly generous donor to the R Fund, but no more. Hobbs has a lot of work to do to put some fiscal sense into scholarships.

Rutgers is not recruiting Brynn Farrell ( or her two teammates that are high D1 players). We are also not recruiting the twins from Franklin, who I believe could have a positive impact on the program ... that’s 4 juniors (class of 2020) and 1 sophomore ( point guard from st rose )

That's not necessarily the case. There are plenty of professional golfers from many other countries who now have homes in the U.S. If the RU women aren't good enough to play professionally, they may still remain here for greater opportunities in whatever field they chose to study. I'd rather give a scholarship to someone who wants to be here, for whatever reason, than hold the scholarship waiting for a NJ player to decide that maybe Rutgers is OK.

I guess they're not Rutgers type of players.

NOT STRINGERS TYPE OF PLAYERS, JUST LOOK AT HER RECRUITING RECORD

NOT STRINGERS TYPE OF PLAYERS, JUST LOOK AT HER RECRUITING RECORD
I think you were asked this before and never answered:
What's Stringer's type of player????
From her recruiting record it looks like tall, short, mid size, some 3 point specialists, good D players and some with offensive upside.
Ball handlers and those more likely to rebound better than handle the ball and various type with different skill sets CVS recruited.
So say what you mean, I for one have no idea of what you're talking about.

I just happened to come across the Michigan-Purdue game and Sidor did not play. I guess it could be an injury.

Sidor has been at Michigan for just about 2 years. Played as a true freshmen but lost her minutes as her production went downhill. Playing 8 minutes per game this year.

Michigan losses 1 Guard so Maybe she'll start playing more minutes as a Junior or Senior. Or maybe she will transfer out. Playing 20 minutes per game as a freshmen and then losing your playing time the next year is not a good sign.

@waretown Have you been following her career? Not CVS's type of player. I guess you meant...good

They were not in the same recruiting class but, I'll take Diamond Johnson as my PG.
