For those who weren't at the game today, Mike Williams hurt his right leg in the 2nd half.

It did not look good at first as he needed to be assisted off the court and could not put any pressure on his leg but then later he was on the bike and sat on the bench though he still required assistance.

Jerry Carino tweeted that Pikiell thinks he'll be fine but of course it'll be up to the medical diagnosis etc.

Most importantly, you won't find a better; classier guy than Mike and I hope that the injury is minor and he'll be good to go on Friday or shortly thereafter - as he played his heart out today and the team needs him for sure.

It’s the most important thing from today’s game. Hope it was just a temporary dead leg from a bone on bone collision.

Was it a contact injury as opposed to the dreaded non contact one?

Pretty serious injury. Could not put any weight on it at all.

I would not be surprised to see him out 5-8 weeks, or the whole season.

If anyone hears news, please post it. Crossing my fingers for the heart and soul of this team.
just because you can't put weight on something does not mean it's a very serious injury automatically. I've caught a knee on knee in basketball games and right when it happens you can't put any weight on your leg for a few days or so and then it's back to 100% when the bruise heels. That is what I'm hoping for

I don't want to make any wrong assumptions, so I deleted my post. I hope so,too.

I saw his knee wrapped up at the end of the game. We will see.

Crossing everything. Williams will battle back.

It’s encouraging to me that the knee was wrapped. Hopefully that leans towards a bone bruise.

I'm pretty sure if they suspected a ACL or something similar the medical staff would not have let him come out of the locker room. He would have at least been on crutches.

Did anyone actually see him go down? I watched the shooter, and then looked back to see him in the ground.

Just re-watched it. Total non-contact injury, I guess he just landed it on the wrong way.

I talked to one of the coaches after the game and he was optimistic that Mike was gonna be OK
Based on the way he had to be assisted by a team manager/trainer through handshake line and walk back to the locker room, I find it shocking to think he will be "OK". But what do I know? I'm a Colonel not a Doctor.

We can only hope it’s a sprain or bone bruise? He looked like he was in some severe pain coming off the court.

Saw him go down and said oh crap!! He was having a strong game with typical toughness..Speedy recovery...we need him badly!

To me, as a fan, the season starts Friday November 24. That would give 18 days.

#334 Hartford gave us all we could handle last year so i guess I shouldn't be too overconfident.

kenpom ratings 1st 5 games.....NA, 342, 265, 345, 320.

Game 6 11/24 vs. East Carolina #171.

For football fans East Carolina = Eastern Michigan

He landed weird so it's definitely a pull and not a bruise. Just hope its a sprain or at worst a strained MCL, not an ACL. If the first, expect him back in probably 2 weeks. If MCL, then by Big Ten play hopefully. We need him in there

Love watching Mike play. Let's hope he can recover fully in time for games. With the way the schedule sets up, maybe we can give him a couple weeks to heal before they rush him back. Would be great to have him for East Carolina on 11/24 as a tuneup for 11/28 vs. FSU

Agreed. I watched the replay and there was no contact. Have to hope for the best case scenario, which is a bad sprain and not a tear.

And a fine Colonel at that.

He was rubbing the outside of his knee and just below his knee on the outside. He wasn't spending any time with his hand on the inside of his knee, on the top of his kneecap, or on the back of his knee. That's not an MCL, and probably not an ACL or PCL... though it could be an LCL. That's pure speculation on my part, but based on my own several knee injuries.

If it's a moderate LCL sprain, that's probably going to be 4-6 weeks... which might bring him back for the end of the OOC schedule.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him sit out until we play someone with a pulse
Friday for sure assuming its only a minor injury.Williams ,Sanders and Freeman must carry the team offensively.
