Mike Williams rebounding

Yes shooting has been bad but he also seems to get the ball when shot clock is like at 5 and has to shoot the ball many times.

He is not getting enough open shots, but for the first time in awhile I thought he had some makeable ones and just couldn't convert. He's just gotta keep shooting.

And start not missing. Really good players will make a fair share of forced shots while sub par guys just don't when it comes to shooting. Just the way it is.

We all love his hustle, desire and rebounding but his shooting has been hurting us big time. Maryland was especially tough as the shots were unrushed wide open good looks except for ironically, the one basket he made.

His grit helped us make mini runs at the end that kept the game respectable. Probably irrelevant to most, but not me.

At some point we need to turn Sanders ability to attract defenders and get in to the paint in to open looks for Williams. It just isn't happening. If I am bored maybe I'll rewatch some 2nd half possessions and look at who and where people are open when the guard and big are defending Sanders. Guys have to be open and ultimately Williams should be getting more open looks.

Happy for Williams. He knows everything everyone is posting here.

There is a 99.9% chance he is working on them. We are lucky to have him here.Hopefully it comes around.

In Williams plan should be drawing fouls, and communicating to guards on where he wants his shots.

The rest of the team can't throw the ball in the ocean open or not but you still manage to make it always Corey's fault. Tiresome.

Is corey making his teammates better? How many times did Corey pass the ball when he got in to the paint? How effective has Corey been in total when getting to the rim?

What is tiresome to me is people blaming our offensive woes on the supporting cast. We have been beyond terrible on the offensive end. It is the fault of all 5 players. Especially those with the ball in their hands the most.

If I were Corey I would shoot it myself every single time if I could get away with it in the half court. He's got zero help. The team is full of dreadful shooters and front court guys who can't finish in half court sets at all. The only way we can score is on fast breaks or Corey trying to break someone down and get a layup in the half court.

What is tiresome is the yearly discussion why Rutgers doesn't win more games against league competition and why top tier recruits don't come to Rutgers.

Or we can dribble back door and get a layup or just make back door cuts and get dunks.

We scored 29 points in the 1st half with Corey taking 11 shots and scoring 13. We still scored 26 points in the 2nd half despite Corey going 0-8 and 3 turnovers.

What is tiresome to me is the canonization of some players and the demonization of other players. How any fan can question Corey is mind boggling.

Saw the same thing last year with Bishop Daniels who hustled and busted his butt 100% but the fan favorite was the guy who repeatedly shot 1 for 10 from the field.

For instance amazed absolutely no commentary or credit on CJ's impressive stat sheet yesterday: 3 for 4 from the field, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots.

I am not canonizing anyone,,I WISH I could,,,but stats are stats
We have 3 guys who produce consistently on O, Corey, Gettys & Freeman
sometimes we get lucky & Nigel does also

But they are who they are and they arent getting much help.

Coach P has done a great job cobbling together a decent team and decent game plans............but you cant win many games with THREE guys contributing on O

When you have an entire bench of 8 guys chipping in 2 buckets a game
we are lucky we are as competitive as we are !

not getting Mike open looks is a fair criticism of the staff IMO

our shot at getting to 3-4 wins is very much dependent on this IMO. It's one of the few offensive "weapons" we have...and we're just not trying this enough

Agree completely. We are playing conservatively on offense instead of taking a puncher's chance at some wins. They also need to be encouraging Nigel Johnson and designing plays for him to distribute the ball and get assists. Offense stagnates with the ball in his hands.
