Not to be pessimistic, but we've all seen the trend through the years of players returning from injuries just in time for the team's game with Rutgers. Rutgers always seems to be just what the doctor ordered.
The notion of us getting our first Big Ten road win ever in a building that's home to a program that's been the conference standard bearer for almost two decades is unfortunately comical.
Let's hope for no injuries and a somewhat reasonable final score that won't cause anyone do to a double-take.

I just read what you wrote and hate what it reads. Sadly, I am unable to disagree with any of it.
Of course he returns. Is anyone really surprised at this? The guy's been out for what eight games and he happens to make his return against us. How convenient.
we are 3-35 in Big 10 play, 3-37 in all Big 10 games played and have lost all 19 road games in the Big 10 and have lost 35 of our last 36 games in any Big 10 play....and I dont think we have beaten a team in the top 100 rpi since Wisconsin almost 2 years ago.

How has this coaching staff done in true road and neutral games this year? That would be a fair point to make for this new coach and this new staff
True neutral and road games this year? Against opponents from multi-bid-conferences (B1G, ACC, BE), we're 1-3 with an average score of 60-69.
MSU scores 72 pts/g on average, and I'd say we have an above-average defense... so we could very well keep them under 70 unless they get hot from range. We've held our four opponents with a pulse to below their usual scoring averages.
On the flip side, we've only scored 55 pts/game against those same four opponents, and MSU has an above average defense, too.
Hopefully Bridges is rusty tonight and their outside shooters are cold.
Okay you are correct , in how you limited it , but beating Stony Brook on their home court with a rabid crowd would make them 2-3-1 with true road wins at DePaul , at Stony Brook, neutral win against Fordham, and true road losses to Miami, Seton Hall and Wisconsin, where they played reasonably well for long stretches against Seton Hall and Wisconsin. Yes , very unlikely if I was a betting man that Rutgers wins, but clearly unlike most of this board , I think we have a chance and not chalking it up as an automatic loss.
Long suffering fans have been told for decades that it always takes 3-5 years to rebuild and then the head coach is fired and the process starts over.There needs to be a sense of urgency in recruiting because minimal steps in talent improvement won't get Rutgers out of the basement in B1G rankings.A Jerome Coleman /Quincy Douby type recruit is needed to light up the scoreboard which would change the dynamics of game strategy.Wishful thinking on my part!
