Minnesotan sounds off about Rutgers Fans

Do you think the player suspensions had any effect on the game?

No. The only major loss was Kiante Hardin, a starting CB. 4 of the other players were either redshirt freshmen or true freshmen with very limited game action this season. Also, Carlton Djam, a running back may have played a very minor role with Smith and Brooks getting the bulk of the carries anyway.

This team has had a problem with targeting. Most of them have been when a player has started to slide. The only one that I saw that was bad was against Oregon State. No helmet to helmet contact, but the player (Poock) could have pulled up/ avoided the hit.I didn't see the replays from other angles of Jack Lynn's hit, but I didn't see helmet to helmet. Nor did it look like it was late. I could be way off. I have to trust the refs this time. Players health is the most important.

The Gopher QB Leidner took a much worse shot to the head vs Iowa and it didn't get called. You could clearly see his head snap back after taking the crown of the helmet to the chin. He suffered a concussion. IMHO the refs failed him.

While I don't have a problem with the call on Saturday, I do have a problem of the inconsistency and the lack of considering intent. In some cases players do have trouble stopping in time.

Glad your player didn't get hurt. That is what matters most.
Do you think the player suspensions had any effect on the game?
IMHO Yes a little. Kiante Hardin is in my opinion our best corner. He can also handle punts. Wolitarski isn't doing well back there. This is the second time this season he lost a punt. That muffed punt was a big play. Should our team been able to overcome the lost of the suspended players, and the ejected LB(Jack Lynn)? Maybe. The reason I say maybe is that in theory "next man up" applies. It's just that I think there is a big drop-off after CB Hardin, and Jack Lynn. Jack is a captain and team leader.

At the risk of repeating myself, Minnesota isn't at the point yet were they can lose that many guys and have it be business as usual. Just think if Rutgers was ready at the opening kick-off. Interesting game. Both teams learned about themselves. It will be interesting to see what that means to each team at the end of the season.

We lost our best playmaker, kickoff return and punt return phenom all on 1 play. That had an effect on all our games. Thems the breaks and it's always next man up. It happens.

It sucks for the Gophers cause Kill was an excellent coach. Claeys is going to slowly sink the program like a slow sinking rock to the bottom of lake. I loved when Glenn Mason was there if he could of only developed a passing attack. Guys like this are so hard to make on move on because the backslide happens so gradually until you have one horrendous season after a decent one.
Question about the Minny Coach:

Would you rather have $1 million dollars or his head filled with pennies?

Fans were flat ?

Wasn't it Homecoming Game for Minn ? Maybe an 11am local time Kick off for Homecoming isn't a good idea.

As a Northwestern fan, I can tell you that if your team is in the Midwest and doesn't have Ohio State or Michigan on its jersey you're going to get a lot of 11 a.m. start times the way TV is set up now. And, no, it's not a wonderful time to start a football game.
