Is on the verge of winning an outright AAC title in their FIRST year ... Great for them, but let that sink in for a minute when compared to our history.

Nice job if they can do it. Lots of talk about ISU's best path to competing in the B12 is with the triple option and that names like Willie Fritz and Ken N. should be considered.

Love the academies but Houston will win by 2 scores.

Nah. Navy's defense is solid and will hit that QB.

ANd Houston won't stop them on the ground. Throw in the one over the top TD pass that Navy lulls you into and it's AAC Championship game in Annapolis time.

You want to go double or nothing on the last bet you haven't paid yet. Lol

Which bet is that?

I paid about $500 bucks to feed those animals after last year's game.

Not my problem you didn't want to slum in the Blue Lot to collect..lol

Navy's been good for quite a while and this is one of their better teams. I don't know why anyone should be surprised.

This is a once in a generation Navy team

11 senior starters on offense.

Very underrated defense.

And the best triple option quarterback in history of college football.

Agreed (though Trent Steelman from Army was also a great option QB, but he fumbled just a bit too much). One area where I disagree with you is the long-term projections for Navy in the AAC. I still think once these teams get used to playing the TO every year they'll start to struggle a bit more. Doubt it'll be like Army in C-USA but I think years like this one will be a bit more exception rather than rule.

I agree about familiarity. You don't have to look any further than RU vs Army/Navy since 2000. Yes, they get their yards but usually less than they average.

With the exception of this year and 2004 Navy, both Army and Navy usually averaged significantly less than their season rushing averages against us. I've seen a number of teams say they used our game film as an example of how to defend the TO. Even this year Army ran for about 250 and change.

Don't forget they're facing teams for the first time who have not played against the triple option.

Yeah but Army was a Under Center, Spread passing team under Todd Berry while in CUSA. He was so horrible he set Army back about 10-15 years.

Navy got their asses kicked by 3 TDs . Their air defense was penetrated with ease and their rushing attack was kept in check. Houston made it look easy. I was surprised.

Navy got manhandled by Houston- remember Herman played Navy to open the 2-14 season at Ohio State, so he knew how to stop the running game. Reminded me of our 2014 game against Navy when they had to throw to comeback. Just Houston aired it out instead of justrunning the ball.

Navy did rush for over 350 yards against OSU last year . It is getting a lead on Navy that counts the most.

OSU got gashed rarly in that game, remember they we losing until JT Barrett threw that long pass to Street for the TD, in the 4th quarter Navy held in check. Also Herman was the OC- did not coach the Defense he was breaking in JT and Elliot.

Navy lost the game due to an inability to get Houston off the field on 3rd down. They were 14/16

Yep, that was the stat of the game - and several of those were 3rd and long and on some of them Navy had the QB dead to rights and he got away. Tough loss, as I was rooting for Navy.

Having said that, Houston would be 11-0 if Ward didn't miss the UConn game last week - he's that good. And people wonder why I'd love to see a dual threat QB with a spread offense at RU, lol - I've said this a few dozen times, but can you imagine what Sanu might've been able to accomplish at RU as a full time QB?

Also, don't forget the QB who transferred to Michigan and who may be starting for them next year (Korn?), transferred from Houston due to the QB competition.

Very true when playing a TO team- three keys to winning:

-stop the FB dive
-DE hit QB no matter what; LB's/secondary covers the pitchmen no matter what
-get a double-digit 2nd half lead and make them need to throw to best you
