New Brunswick Fully Approves New 30-Story Tower

Super news. Omar knows how to get projects built. He is a huge Rutgers donor too. Omar should be on short list for athletic director job. The role needs a person who gets buildings constructed. Previous AD was not too good at that.

If the building is true to the design, that's one ugly-ass tower:

Wasn't good at it? He raised hundreds of millions of dollars, including $125M from the state, and built the APC, Rodkin, Battaglia, Garutti Strength and Conditioning Center @ Hale, Brown Family Locker Room @ stadium, Druskin Strength & Conditioning Center @ The RAC, Abe Suydam Men’s Basketball Locker Room, Fred Hill Training Complex, and many other facility and infrastructure upgrades for baseball, softball, golf, field hockey and more. Plus, he secured naming rights for the stadium (SHI) and RAC (Jersey Mike's).

Oh just stop with those pesky facts, they're not relevant to his agenda that he rants about.

Facts? The $125 million cannot be defended because it is made up. I described this. The $125 million from the state does not exist.

Hobbs run department was dead last in power 5 in donations. Of 52 power 5 schools, here is where Rutgers ranked:

2023 52
2022 50
2021 48
2020 52
2019 52
2018 52

If anyone can find the answer to my question its you...what were the rankings under Julie and Tim?

I've been asked this question before. My answer is, "Reliable donation numbers comparable across universities do not exist before 2018."

To put donations into perspective, in 2023 Rutgers ranked between FAU and Marshall.

Doesn't appear good but I never saw so many buildings go up as I did under Hobbs. I have no complaints about his fundraising. That's a bigger indictment on Rutgers and who they target as undergrad students and how they treat them.

One of the Boraies was my landlord. His son went to Cult. I am not sure how committed to RU the whole family is.

Is there any news on what’s going on at the corner where the CT is, or rather, was? Easton and Somerset. A bunch of us who used to frequent the place a little too often were wondering about this over the weekend at the reunion.

They're waiting for a buyout that's unlikely to happen anytime soon. A lot of people think their property is worth a lot more than it is in NB.

the actual buildings on the 3 contiguous properties are all falling down. the land has significant value, however, at the corner it's only 40 feet wide. that does increase to over 100 as Easton continues. The land area is simply not large enough to interest the large national development folks. The cost of construction is simply too high to get the numbers to work. Just the cost to have police work traffic on Easton and Somerset for the year plus would be a half million. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Skoolie is correct. It's been 4+ years and no one has offered what the owners think it's worth.

Thanks both of you for the updated info. SF88 - do you think there's any chance of the CT re-opening or somebody buying it? I gather the Inzano's are not interested?

Back in the 80's we'd hit CT for $2 pitchers. If the CT was going to open again, it would have. Barely functioning in the 00's, 10's The Inzano kids ( in their 50's/60's ) have never invested a nickel in the place. I offered multiple seven figures and never got a reply. I texted Vinny last month to ask if they had plans, want to work together etc....never got a reply. They're regular guys and firemen in Franklin. I haven't seen Marie in 10+ years. It's an eyesore and a blight on the neighborhood. Just sell it if you're not going to do anything with it. Is it worth 6/7/8 Million, nope. together are the lots worth 3-3.5, probably. I've always said I wanted to buy the lots and put a Panera there, with apartments above. I even have plans for 9 stories, but the number$ don't work
