New Court In RAC

Yes. It had some dead spots and was patched with mismatched wood last year. The court looked really bad. Definitely needed.

Would be nice to include some more 2 tone action in the Wood. I always like when state profiles are built into the court
I've seen it done for cities, which I don't like just makes the floor look too busy, but not a state profile.

What is the state profile for New Jersey? The turnpike? An exit sign?

I kid, I kid.

Me. I hate that floor. The few times I've watched an Oregon home game I had difficulty seeing the 3-point line.

The irony is that they're playing up the trees in Oregon but how many had to be cut down to make that floor?
I was being sarcastic. I think it looks horrible as well.

Floor gets a lot of use with both teams practicing on it and all the games. Has to be replaced probably every 4-5 years. Maybe in the future with the practice facility not so much.

I disagree. Basketball courts should last for a couple decades at a minimum - this is not synthetic turf we're talking about here. It is most likely a bad product or defective floor that is being replaced. I would be surprised if it wasn't a warranty issue replacement.

This latest floor was replaced only ~7 years ago (please correct if necessary). It was a special "forgiving surface" design with air spacing underneath and built to encompass the entire floor., including side basket/underneath 100-level side seating. This eliminated some of the challenges of the previous portable court.

The previous court (Big East years) was a raised portable parquet-style floor like you would find in many NBA and D-1 arenas (see Oregon above), and was placed atop the original-ish hardwood - which was laid over the concrete slab foundation. This court was also "forgiving" on the body. However, it was challenging during practices to shoot at the side baskets due to the step-off. That court seemed to be in place 9+ months per year - only taken up for graduations and other special events like summer camps. With the original-ish floor underneath, you could still hold camps, etc when the portable court was removed.

The first ~20 years in the RAC, they played on the original-ish hardwood floor placed over the concrete foundation and which encompassed the entire floor, wall-to-wall. I say original-ish as I believe after the first season in the RAC the floor had to be replaced due to some gaps from the settling of the surface after the rush to open.
