New Jersey Devil Fans

Go Devils! I'm trying to temper expectations, but I liked what I saw last season. Would be happy with a Wild Card spot. I love Schneider and the offensive additions, but the back line is looking questionable.

Good luck to the Devils and Devils fans this year. Except vs the Rangers of course. But heres to a great season for all.

Damon Severson. Not his proudest moment.

Borderline (at a minimum) interference there. Severson did not have the puck.

Nevertheless, Devils were fortunate to get a point yesterday, and have a lot of work to do to improve. I do think Florida will be one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the East though with Washington, Pittsburgh, and Tampa.

Tampa and then Anaheim up next for Devils. Very tough first three games with so much roster turnover is not a recipe for likely success. Getting 3 wins in the first 10 games seems likely.

Taylor Hall! Woot, woot!

Excellent game by NJ last night. The team has played better as a whole in each successive game so far.

Again, the first 10 games are daunting. Get through these while picking up at least 8 points and the season will be looking fairly promising.

Here are the next seven:

I'm trying to figure out which places to stop in pregame this afternoon/evening.
Bellos
Dino
Edison Ale
Taste Venue
Redds Biergarten
Hells Kitchen

sorry I didn't see this yesterday. Great game for Hall! great atmosphere with the fans. We really packed the place and were loud!

I like all of those places. The spots on Edison place and market st. are obviously the closest, but if I were coming in on the train I might hit Bellos or Hells first and then head to the arena area for a few more before going in. I live nearby, so I had my pre-game drinks at home, but after the game I went to Redd's and it was a solid crowd!

Is the old Brick City anything yet?

I pre-gamed at Edison Ale House and Redds.
Taste seemed too crowded

Also, did the Devils really do a ...... We Are - "JERSEY!" chant last night!?

Ughhh, too much like Penn State, if so. Must get rid of that !

Legit sellout in home opener, crowd was excellent.

After tonight the next 4 games are at home.

Obviously that is good for the team. But it will be interesting to see how the crowds are for those games.

Don't expect sellouts but hoping that opening night crowd is a sign of good things to come on the attendance front.

Saturday night should be a good crowd with Parise in town and also the Marty statue going up outside pregame.

Tuesday vs Arizona will be a small crowd but hopefully the fans that do show up are loud and into the game like a few nights ago.

Having both MLB teams out along with a putrid RU & NFL teams in NJ should help the Devils attendance early on as long as they play good hockey.

Ah, didn't know Marty statue was finally going put up. that is exciting. And you are right, that + Parise on a Saturday night should be a good crowd.

Was very impressed with opening night, on TV it looked and sounded like one of it's best crowds ever in Newark. On par with playoff games.

As per on the ice, how bout the frenchman?

He's been a nice addition since he skates well and has exceptional vision.
With a decent shot too.
He's not strong in his own end though, but, if he's paired with a defensive defenseman that's ok.

I think Ray Shero will try to make a deal for Trouba or Fowler in the coming months.
Maybe even Bobby Ryan to play RW with Hall and Henrique.

Terrible. One thing the new owners / "fan experience" people have done way too much of is trying to change or direct fan behavior.

Hugh Weber has been a mixed bag at best. Way too much trying to fix things that were not broken. Any fan that attended the 2012 playoff games left wanting to come back -- that was the experience to emulate.

Not for nothing but that was a small segment in time. Team has been junk since, and attendance reflected that.

Weber has put the $$$ up to stabilize the franchise, and the on ice product really looks to be heading in the right direction. And that is 90% of the fan experience, a winning team.

Not to say there are not legit criticisms, but I think overall the situation is much better.

Note: Weber is not the owner. He was hired by the owners, but he has not put up any $$. Nor does he sign players or handle team personnel.

I completely agree that any attendance issues (of which, such issues are not nearly as bad as sometimes portrayed) are due to team performance. However, that doesn't mean that the "fan experience" portion need not be examined as well. The recent changes there have been mixed, at best.

Same old Devils thus far..can't seem to find the back of the net.

Yes, playing great in stretches..but can't win much if you can't score much. Hopefully the goals come.

Hall is a significant upgrade but going to need to get Cammalleri, Henrique and Zajac going....then hope at least one of the young guns start to show they can be a 20+ goal scorer like Boucher or Zacha
