Football New radio homes for football, basketball

Terrible

Will always get moved to lesser stations because of Mets Yankees and pro sports

Lets take 5 minutes and actually see before making uninformed random comments:

Sat 9/3 Noon: Mets 7:15 Yankees 6:10
Sat 9/10 4pm: Mets 6:10 Yankees 1:05
Sat 9/17 TBA: Mets 7:10 Yankees 7:10
Sat 9/24 TBA: Mets 4:07 Yankees 1:05
Sat 10/1 3:30: Mets 7:20 Yankees 1:05pm
Fri 10/7 7pm:
Sat 10/22 Noon:
Sat 10/29 TBA:
Sat 11/5 TBA:
Sat 11/12 TBA:
Sat 11/19 TBA:
Sat 11/26 TBA:

So there are only 5 games that overlap with regular season baseball.
Of those, 9/3 is no conflict, 9/10 is maybe, 9/17 is unlikely, 9/24 is maybe unless Iowa is a night game and 10/1 is likely a conflict.

But sure....."always get moved"

As for the massive "driving during an away game" crowd we have:

9/3 @ BC is no conflict
9/17 @ Temple is likely no conflict (can't see how that would be a night game)
10/1 @OSU is likely a conflict but why would you be driving during that game?

Getting bumped from 101.9 FM to 660 AM or 880 AM is still better than WOR where the signal barely reached the restrooms in SHI.
Are you sure you don’t mean WCTC?

WOR is 50,000 watts and I have been able to pick the game up past Baltimore and deep into the Lehigh Valley (mountains) when traveling to my Sons college hockey games.

We have a deal with the most ICONIC sports radio station in the world…and yet people still complain.

MIND-BOGGLING!!!
I think it’s great.

But I also think asking about some possible scheduling conflicts is not complaining.

What about Yankee postseason and World Series that could go to November

Yes you are correct. WCTC not WOR.

This. WOR is stronger in reality then WFAN. I can get WOR very strong in Philadelphia. I can get WFAN along the Delaware but not in the city. WCBS can't get anywhere.

The Mets are on WFAN now?

saying TERRIBLE. Saying we’re gonna get bumped isn’t asking questions
Well as others have said, that shouldn’t be an issue if we get to stay on 660am instead of being pushed 101.9fm.

Maybe it’s just me but the cache of “660” sounds better than “101.9” for broadcast.

It’s like having a “212” instead of a “718” or some of the other ones.

it won’t be an issue, yet there’s people complaining how hard games are gonna be to find.

Like I said…MIND BOGGLING!

The problem with Jersey Mike's is that their quality has gone down big time. We should replace them with Wawa.
WFAN for football makes sense, but WCBS for BB makes no sense. Why could both be not on WFAN?

What about it?
So you are worried about:
1. Yankees making the playoffs
2. Having a game on Fri 10/7, Sat 10/22 and/or Sat. 10/29
3. And those games happens to be at the exact same time as the Rutgers football game.

Know what - your right. Fire Hobbs and sink this deal.
That's just not a risk we can take at this point.

Same thing with Wawa as far as quality of food other than Smoothies and other than the new Wawas in Florida.

Also, 🤦🏻‍♂️

I read the Rutgers press release. Unless I missed it, I don’t see anything about games only being on those stations. Maybe games will continue to be on 93.5 FM, 97.3 FM, and 1450 AM. I know 1450 is a signal that is like a high school station signal, but the two FM signals go pretty far. 93.5 goes to the Monmouth/Ocean border in Howell/Jackson and 97.3 reaches A LOT of South Jersey.

The pro conflict thing isn't new. Over the years, RU games have occasionally been bumped from WOR when they conflicted with their pro sports.

The FAN connection is terrific for RU and WCBS has a long history of broadcasting major sports. I suspect there would have been more conflicts with the Brooklyn Nets on the FAN, so the placement on WCBS makes sense for basketball (they're both Audacy properties). This is nothing but positive!!
