2019 record ... 20-31 overall, 9-14 conference. Included getting swept 3 games both at Old Dominion and by Indiana State (not Indiana!) at Fort Myers, FL. Losing at home to Hofstra, Villanova. Nip and tuck 1-run home wins over Monmouth and Wagner and Stony Brook and Rider. Brutal 2019 season. Have to greatly expand recruiting beyond NJ, particularly for pitching.
Fortunately the 2019 staff is history. Coach Owens is going all over looking for players. He can only do so much, though, playing in a high school facility.
I agree for the most part. But to be perfectly fair, Indiana State and Old Dominion won almost 80 games between them in 2019 against solid schedules.
Here are the final 2019 NCAA Baseball RPIs. None of Indiana State, Old Dominion, and Rutgers were world beaters.

2020 did not get off to a flying start. Losing to St. Peter’s is almost difficult to do, then getting swept at Old Dominion.
Mercifully the season ended prematurely as we all know.
Actually Mr. Twister, you linked the 2020 shortened season RPI. In 2019, Indiana State finished at #24 in the RPI with seven Q1 wins among 43 total wins and a 9-5 record against the Big Ten. They won a couple of games in the Nashville regional before eventual national champion Vanderbilt beat them twice to eliminate them. Maybe some programs would not see this as a “worldbeater,“ but I bet all of us would sign up for it for RU in a minute.Here are the final 2019 NCAA Baseball RPIs. Old Dominion finished at #80 in the RPI with 3 Q1 among 35 total wins. RU had no Q1 OR Q2 wins. Where ODU was in 2019 would not be a horrible result either as a first step on the way back.
