Rutgers’ next chapter demands a visionary president | Opinion
Rutgers has outgrown its regional identity and now stands as a national research powerhouse, requiring a leader with the ambition and vision to match its potential.
I noticed the article did not mention athletics though.
I would think you need to have a PhD. Does Murphy? IdkIt’s not Murphy, right? I’ve heard that rumor in two different settings in the past few weeks.

Ohio State’s president, Ted Carter, doesn’t have PhD or a master’s degree.I would think you need to have a PhD. Does Murphy? Idk
It’ll leak at some point but I’d imagine they’ll cut it as close to the BOG meeting on the 25th as possible before announcing. Less time for the usual suspects to organize and protest against whoever’s pickedIt's April, so I would expect an announcement any day. After all, the new president is supposed to take over July 1. Once he or she is on board, the search for a new AD can move forward.
If there is an official announcement this month (and I would be surprised if there's not) it will be at the BOG meeting because BOG makes the official decision. The question is whether the names of the final candidates, or at least of the leading candidate, will leak before then as they sometimes do.It’ll leak at some point but I’d imagine they’ll cut it as close to the BOG meeting on the 25th as possible before announcing. It will not be Murphy.
April 24th Board of Governors meeting agenda is out.Anybody got a name?
You'll notice that the agenda includes a closed session. Because the hiring of a president is a personnel matter, it wouldl be discussed and decided there, not in open session.April 24th Board of Governors meeting agenda is out.
Lots on there like student housing at Helix, approving KPMG as auditor, but nothing on a new president.
Maybe the agenda will be amended to add the new president's hiring. Adding something that important at the last moment seems like bad practice though.
Appreciate your input. We'll find out next week whether Rutgers has a new president. You'll notice that the agenda includes a closed session. Because the hiring of a president is a personnel matter, it would be discussed and decided there, not in open session.
