I'm not an RU grad, but I've been lurking on this, the BB, and the CE boards since about 2005. I want to thank all of you, past and present, for your passion for RU and for all of the great OT threads as well. I was and am a big Schiano fan. It was exciting to see him turn the program around and now you're in the BIG10! Incredible. I also am a Flood fan and don't understand the vitriol directed at him. And no, I haven't been drinking and I'm not Mrs. Flood. I understand that many of you are frustrated, but you should wait for the season to be over before you dig his grave. Things may get better. At any rate, I hope to be part of the fun, and not be called any names. But that's probably wishful thinking, lol.

It could be Flood's agent or Flood himself. Didn't Flood start coaching at RU in 2005? And the OP started lurking on this board in 2005... Coincidence? I think NOT...

Funny when i posted here the first time it was the same reaction, and i was banned later that day.....took me a yr and the new board to be able to post again....ok now time for the comments on how i should be banned again......too easy

Holy crap with the crazy bashing just because someone shares a different opinion. I am not ready to bury Flood yet, am I a troll? I mean I do have a couple more posts than the OP but still...

He isn't allowed to post until he spends his time calling other people retards and making up stories about talking to boosters.

Ray, thanks for posting. It's good for a msg board to get new people to add to the discussions. For me it boils down to this:
1) I didn't believe flood had credentials to get hired as Big East head coach.
2) Flood was on staff and I thought it was OK under circumstances to give him a shot. Could keep continuity and if he could win, we would have a coach for long haul.
3) I believe his coaching style is to work with what opposing teams give. Not what we do best.
4) he was supposed to be good guy, high character which in my book gives him some slack while he learned on job.
5) he has had 4 seasons to showcase his team. Recruiting is less than what it should be in B1G.
6) team gets blown out by top teams consistently.
7) I don't think his coaching gives us an advantage over a single B1G coach
8) if we don't want to be a doormat, we need a change at top to get higher ceiling. Flood can get us to middle, but that's about it

The OP needs more in his total body of work before we can evaluate. Does he eat at Subway? Does he know who wrote Swanee River? Where was he on the night of Nov 9, 2006?

This may be the most fair, balanced and accurate assessment on this board. Refreshing to see. Thank you for posting.

That's why I joined the board! It's a hell of a lot of fun. First, since some of you seem fixated on "trolls", I used "you're" because I'm not an RU grad and my first reaction was that "we're" belonged to RU students and alums. However, I root for RU to do well in all things. Second, thank you Rufaninga for your response. I just think that an 8-5 record last year with a bowl win (an overachievement according to preseason predictions), securing, hopefully, an Elite 11 QB, and being a man of principle is enough to support the guy. I also assume that he has more football knowledge in his little finger, as do all college coaches, than any of us. People should root for him to succeed, not fail. Give him a few more years to get a fair assessment.

As a die hard fan and alum I feel strongly that non-grads have every right to be fans as those of us that went to the school. In many ways it has been much tougher to be a fan of this program over the years without the connection to alma mater. A big part of our deficit in fandom and other support relative to our colleague schools is not having as many local, non-alums fans like Ray.

Welcome to the (sometimes dysfunctional) family.

Hello Ray, I have been a member of this board since January of 2004 and a season ticket holder since 1994. I have all of 11 posts on this board. Unfortunately it seems that new posters are judged harshly and labeled trolls based solely on the number of posts to a message board. It's a strange way to judge someone's knowledge and character but for the most part this board and the Round Table are alot of fun and full of good and not so good info. After all, I get all my winter weather information here!

"Give him a few more years" Dude get lost. You're a troll who gave up your act way to soon.

I believed the same thing until I read the email report. His actions were not those of a man of principle.

It's time to move on. Hopefully his 8-5 record will serve him well on the job market.

Yeah....we're RUTGERS. Take that 8-5 elsewhere. We have a long history of kicking butt and taking no prisoners in the world of college football. We need to get rid of our current coach and get a new one who will take us back to the glory days of Rutgers football in.....er....ah....uh....
I forget. When was that ?

That's exactly why I thought you did that and was was gonna post it but you did a fine enough job clearing it up yourself.

Welcome out of the closet. You should probably used the handle "youcancallmeXXX" because you're bound to be called plenty of things here by some. Lot's in good fun.
Enjoy your run throw the gauntlet. :chairshot:[sick]:uzi::boxing:

You're in as far as I'm concerned. You can say "we" now.

A man of principle would not have violated Rutgers academic procedures and knowingly sent questionable communication to faculty via personal e-mail in order to attempt changing his player's grade at least one month after it was finalized. However, a stubborn man would have ignored the instructions not to do so by academic advisers. A stubborn man is whom we're dealing with on the field, as the past 3.67 seasons have illustrated. Four seasons is more than enough for must of us to make a fair assessment, and this is coming from someone who rooted for his success up until the e-mail scandal this season.

Agree w russkii.

Being a good guy that players, fans and coaches like is fine, but should not be the #1 selling point of a coach. Granted there's an elite QB coming in next year, but he's still 2 years away from most likely the reigns. What about the rest of the top talent in NJ? if flood is the right coach he would be able to recruit the best talent or get the recruits he lands to perform like the most talented. I don't see him doing either after 4 years.
RU has lots of potential for football with the right coach, but I believe we are wasting it and time with Flood.
I am rooting for RU to win but also wanting a change in coaches, because I think there's a better chance of success with a different coach.

A troll-- come on people the minute he said he was a fan of Flood you knew it was BS. Next thing you know your gonna get Rick rolled. Hey new guy, here's a question for you

Who is the hottest Golden Girl? The correct answer will determine your troll likeness

Good question Mike, Let's see, hmmm.
The obvious answer is the one with the Southern accent, Rue, right?
Bea Arthur is probably the best in bed.
But I choose Betty White because she's the only one still alive.

Wrong, they are all old and hideous, so either none or a 5 way, (aka) Metamucil gang bang

This guy has PSU fan written all over him, must of got booted

Welcome and grow a thick skin...the place is crawling with Rutgers fans...a virulent and embittered bunch...and I say that with nothing but love!

May I recommend a snow thread? They tend to be the embodiment of pure SN drama!!

Thinking the OP is a former poster now under a new name. Two threads in first day...very fishy
