As a fan its making these games run longer....on the field its making our defense go on the field every minute or two. There is a reason we lost to Michigan 78-0 rather than 52-0. I just dont think that trying to ram a hurry up on a pretty talent depleted team most of which will not be on the team when its actually going to be making its move toward rebuilding is the way to go. Sure its the Meringher way and I guess they want to ram the system in the players mind but I think there are times it needs to be scaled back. Our defense plays good in spots but you can see is overwhelmed and tired at times. Yet we keep putting them in tough spots and keep allowing our opponents to have more and more possesssions

I love it

do you love 45 second possessions and the defense having to come on the field and tire themselves out because thats what we have seen all year long. Our offense sucks and our defense is at least trying but cant blame them for faltering late
Yes love hurry up offense. It's hear to stay. Old flue offense is no longer. Move on.

We aren't really running hurry up most of the game. Just because you don't huddl doesn't mean you are snapping the ball with 25 seconds on the clock. Plenty of times we snap the ball with less than 10 on the clock.

Have to agree here. This rapid fire approach tends to throw things out of wack, especially when its not our day. We've got to scale it back when the situation calls for it, because it leaves us very vulnerable. Especially in our case.

They just look at sideline anyway for play. Why not huddle? Why shotgun every play? I don't like the spread offense. To me it's a gimmicks "Dance, shuffle, chuck& duck" . Idea: Use a FB and big TE and huddle between plays

You will get used to it over the next few years. Your used to slow plodding and time consuming O.

I actually thought we were playing TOO slow today in the no huddle and one of the reasons we were slow and out of rythem

Yeah we didn't really run hurry up much today at all.

The one time we did is when we should have gone slow and ensured we got the first down to burn clock and let our D rest. Instead we rushed and that led to a fumbled snap and the turnover. That was the beginning of the momentum shift. the rest is history

We can go back to leather helmets too. It's 2016...time to accept today's offenses. If nick saban can adapt so can you.

Have to Agee with the OP given today's game. By late in the 3rd we were clinging to a lead with a COMPLETELY ineffective offense and a gassed D, yet we were speeding the game up. The result was more offensive plays for the Hoosiers and our D getting even more gassed. Good coaching adjusts to game situations...

We weren't going fast.

OK, but given our ineffective Offense we should have been going SLOW. from what I saw over the last 20 or so minutes our best shot was to limit their offensive plays.

I HATE the looking back / trying to get another sign from some genius so that we can run the same exact play again for NG!

Stop it. Run the friggin play / show some creativity- regardless of who we have to create the stew.

Let me get this straight. You want creativity but don't want to look at coaches in hopes of them making creative changes?

Can't they look at the coaches before they start the huddle?

Don't know if the Maze, OSU etc. look at their coaches....but if they do it's not as often / it doesn't destroy the rhythm of the game.

Of course so far this year our rhythm has been very syn-co-pated. But this is a practice year right.

Turn off your laptop and turn on your TV. Watch a little football. Go watch Bama highlights from ten minutes ago. They look at Kiffin every play. At least Google why they do it before commenting.

Good idea.

A lot of numnuts on this thread.
Ohio State does it all the time, too.
Guess we should be the only team that doesn't.

Continuously looking to the sideline looks like amateur hour.

You mean the way half the schools in the nation at this level, including plenty of highly ranked ones, currently do? You realize that's when the play is coming in, since we don't huddle, right?

I've always said this board is somewhat insular in that I don't know how much people pay attention about what goes on outside of RU and maybe a few regional rivals. I think just about every spread team does it and that goes for both air raid or read option/power versions of it.

Funny I was just about to post a thread about all the blowouts today. Top 25 teams getting blown out, other P5 teams as well, and badly. Another thing many of our posters simply don't realize happens, all the time, because they live in a "Rutgers Bubble" of sorts. Yes, it still sucks to get blown out, especially twice in a row, but man there were some doozies today that people should take a look at IMHO.

It started back in GS days.

Looking at Kiffin [poop] every play.

It's amazing that they're still alive!

And that OC which is averaging about 30 points a game and is about to become a P5 OC was considered a moron by the geniuses here.

He's not a moron....he's a POS: they're not mutually exclusive- but neither is a trait you'd want in a coach.

And he was run out of USC for being honest....right?

I'm not sure who your'e referring to but vkj91 is likely referring to Kirk Ciarrocca the OC for Western Michigan and our former OC. Assuming Fleck lands a P5 job and Ciarrocca doesn't get the nod as HC, there's a good chance he'll tag along with Fleck.

You need a time out to refocus on what we are talking about. I think the 60's are catching up to you
