Yeah, childhood house and also bounced around a few apartments around town before deciding to move northwest

Even the streets that bordered Paterson used to be fine as recent as Y2K

There were a few rough areas down by the Passaic line, but I still hit basically every bar in Clifton aside from the chains along Route 3

My old stomping grounds was along Van Houten
I know all the bars very well, and pizza joints too.

Moved around a few areas of town for pit stops before having enough of some stuff and going up here to Sussex, a different world

I worked at Roche early in my career, 2003/2004. The overall area was okay, but damn traffic royally sucked, which is why I left. I assume the traffic is unbearable by now.

I used to go to Yesterday's late night, that's near Nutley
Chill crowd, met a few good ladies there

I preferred the no nonsense dives within walking distance, like Bogeys, The Cliff, and Emerald.

For crazier nights my boys and I would go into Hoboken or the clubs in Lodi during the colder months. Sometimes out to Morristown
Belmar in the summer, which I still do

Clifton was always doomed. Can’t secure both borders. Paterson and or Passaic was always going to creep in

Used to hit a bar in Clifton. Fatso's? Of course that was the 70's. Went on a bar sponsored bus trip to a Giant's game at the Yale Bowl. Still don't know how we got out of Ct without half the crew ending up in Jail.

There was a Fatsos in North Arlington Ridge Road. I don't know of the one in Clifton. Plus, I was born in the 70s.haha

I could swear it was in Clifton. Like I said it was the 70's during my drinking days so the memory could be a bit foggy.

Good local bars are getting harder to come by. The chains have taken over New Jersey.

I just contacted one of my old drinking buddies down in SC. He thought Clifton too but full disclosure he's old like me so take it fwiw.

Far be it for me to disagree with Proud when discussing bars. It's like a HS QB disagreeing with Peyton Manning

Fatso's definitely in NA. Several drunken nights there in the 90s followed by a diner in Lyndhurst or Tick Tock in Clifton on the way back home. Wed night before Thxg'g was always packed at Fatso's with locals from NA and Lyndhurst. A couple friends were Lyndhurst natives otherwise I'd have probably never made it there.

Shots was only in business for a short time, there is s seafood restaurants in that spot now

Sharkeys is going strong and should be in business as long as the owner wants

As someone mentioned, the Grove st area is pretty good, and there are a few huge mansions recently built.

The Montclair heights section is a nice neighborhood

We just went for coffee and something happened at gas station on rt 3/Clifton. No ambulance, tons of Sheriff department vehicles, sheet taped to driver side window shielding anyone from view.

Hi there. I hope your Christmas was happy and fun. Mine was... interesting. :)

I wound up catching what I think was probably the flu, although I’d never had it before so not entirely sure. Lungs filled up, high fever, joint pain and muscle aches. But no nasal congestion or sneezing or sore throat.

Was in bed or on a couch for about 5 days, soaking or shivering. If it was the flu, didn’t want to infect the old folks, so my daughter took all the Beef Wellington ingredients, along with a bunch of other stuff, over to my sister’s place and the two of them hosted Christmas dinner for the family there instead.

I can’t complain though. I rarely get sick. It has been years. I can’t recall the last time. Plus instead of eating 8 pounds of food, I lost about 8 pounds of body weight. Always nice to take a break from regular workouts and actually lose weight.

I’ll make some more beef Wellington next weekend for me and my one kid who had an EMT shift.
