O.T.-Bobby Vee dead at 73

The native of Fargo,ND hit it big in the summer of 1961 with "Take Good Care of My Baby",hitting No.1 on Billboard.He got his break two years earlier,substituting for Buddy Holly after Holly had been killed in a famous plane crash.

Oddly,another onetime resident of Fargo was also making it big that summer,Roger Maris.

Maris still holds the national record for most return touchdowns in a game with four,two kickoffs,one punt,and one interception.

I could live with crooners such as Bobby Vinton and Bobby Darin because they were good all around entertainers, particularly Bobby Darin. Fabian and Avalon were mere teen idols who could barely manage to carry a tune. The worst had to be Pat Boone who probably sold more records back then than Little Richard, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry combined. Go figure.

Being as old as I am, almost 60.
There's an interesting cutoff between the hippie generation and the doo wop generation.
People my age with older brothers know what I'm talking about.
I spent a lot of time in the Yankees and Mets clubhouse as a kid...there were litterely fist fights over what was playerd on the radio.
The older guys listening to Jewel Aikins or Elvis and the young guys putting on The Stones and The Animals

My brother once looked like him in the 50's and he used it to his advantage in Somerville and all shore points at the time.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
