Eastern Michigan continues to permeate the minds of many. Seems half the threads get into an EMU loss discussion. In a thread about recruits praising our win streak, the thread has been hijacked into an EMU loss thread.

I have appointed myself chief apologist for the EMU loss.

1. EMU is a good team, not a great team.
2. EMU played a smart game, and RU played a dumb game.
3. EMU's 5 losses are completely understandable.
a. Ohio is 6-2 and 3-1; EMU lost 27-20. Close.
b. UK- a 4-1 SEC team, winning by only 24-20. That's a quality loss right there. No harm, no foul.
c. Toledo. Lost 20-15. Toledo is 6-1 and 3-0. Another solid quality loss.
d. Army. Lost 28-27. Army is 6-2 and rolling. Yet another solid quality loss.
e. Western Michigan. Lost 20-17. They are still rowing the boat fine.WMU is 5-3.

4. EMU will go bowling (thanks to RU).
5. EMU was a quality loss. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

EMU's goal this year was to secure their first in program history P5 win. Having done that they have taken the remainder of the season off. Otherwise they would be a NY6 contender.

There were no apologists when we lost 3 games by a touchdown or less which would’ve made us 7-5 instead of 4-8. They aren’t going bowling. They are 2-5. They are MAC level mid-major trash and we lost and it’s embarrassing. If we won they would be 1-6.

Have lost 5 in a row since beating Rutgers. NO matter how you spin it they are NOT playing murder’s row in this losing streak: Ohio, Western Michigan, Toledo.
AND EMU struggled at home vs. Charlotte ..... 1-7 Charlotte.
EMU has 5 losses and they are NOT GOING BOWLING. They are not good at all.
Please stop trying to rationalize it. It was one of the worst RU losses in 10 years.

I think their losing streak gets extended to 6 tonight after losing at Northern Illinois. If it gets extended to 7 (Ball State), they likely finish in last place in the MAC West.

I honestly think EMU should be undefeated. If they won all those close losses they would be 7-0 and a top 25 team. If they ran the table, they could probably do some damage in the college football Playoff.

But it's what some fans do. And it is somewhat understandable. Two more wins would have gotten us to a bowl, and that is more doable than 3 more wins.

I completely understand Shift. Hell, I still sometime think if only this or that had happened vs Bama in '80. I just prefer to look at Illini or Purdue if I'm looking back.
