alright..

Best of luck to Okoro. Unfortunately he didn't have much room to contribute. Might be better for the program but still, hell of a kid.

It certainly is - but not because of this. The guy couldnt get on the floor.

I heard the RAC is installing a revolving door in their plans so it's easier for the kids to leave. So walk-ons will make up the roster next year?

Rock, Okoro is a great kid it seems, but this is good for the program. What do you see as the issue?

Okoro was a warm body that Jordan needed in his first year to fill the roster.

He gets to go down a level and play his final year.

This is ABSOLUTELY a good thing for Rutgers because it frees up another spot...3 total.

Good Luck Kerwin !!!

wrong.....Okoro was a total zero. Took up a scholarship and never was going to play, bad attitude and couldn't see playing time on a team that could have used an extra guard to provide minutes.

this is the best thing to happen as it frees up another scholarship to take a chance on someone else or give Eddie the ability to take 2 and hold one back.

Not exactly a classy statement, but basically true. This is the way transfers are suppose to work. Guys at the bottom of the rotation move on. The big issue for RU in the past 20 years is guys at the top of the rotation leave.

One of the few times I'm 100% in agreement with bac. He was never even a minor factor with RU BB. I'll choose an unknown quantity on schollie before Okoro. Best of luck to him.

Or ... get 3 players, one of whom is a potential contributor who is a 5th year transfer eligible immediately ... but whose scholarship frees up for 2016-17 also.

Okoro was a Macon recruit. He has to be held accountable for wasting schollys like that. This board is all over Shoes and especially Okoren, but Macon's imprint is all over this program. Not sure what he's done? Ever recruit an NBA player? An NCAA tournament team? I can't find any, and he's been at it a LONG time. Wasted misses with big-time talent misevaluations like Macon on Okoro set the program back just as much as any miss on blue chips. He had Okoro's entire hs career to evaluate him, plus a year at ISU, no way he should have missed so badly on Okoro's talent. Luckily he was only a two year mistake. He wasn't even a roster filler as he didn't play last year and didn't play this year. They would have been better off just giving Battie Okoro's garbage minutes last year. And I disagree as far as his attitude. He had infinitely better attitude than Junior during the games I was at. He's just not good enough. Wish him well. I'm sure he goes down a level to play right away.

Eddie kept Cox and Macon to keep what they considered a decent roster from defecting last year. I hate to say it, but David Cox may be the most painful loss we've had. And no, I'm not the HYPE reincarnated.

Mikey, van macon got okoro when we were scrambling to put a team on the floor. Can't blame him. Everybody wanted to see basketball that year, right?

Macon has also got Williams and Foreman-two potential great players.

We have three ships open. Hopefully we fill them with the right players.

Great news... Wish Kerwin nothing but the best going forward. Go make something happen EJ

Not a D1 player so this may actually be a blessing if we can replace him with one.

Can't disagree with mikey...at some point you have to look at certain players and question an individual's ability to evaluate talent. If we aren't going to see anything external happen to this program ($) it is a must that we evaluate talent and bring the right people in to the program. It is more evaluating and less recruiting.

The real negative in me (and I mean real negative) says this is bad because it could mean Eddie and company is going to use/waste his scholarship and tie it up for 4 more years sooner.

You also have to consider what were our other options at the time. Bottom line we needed bodies.

I wonder if the Laurent commit helped push Okoro to transfer knowing Laurent may compete with him for playing time.

If past performance is indication of future returns, Okoro and Etou will be NCAA dancin' in two years, while the Ledger writes articles on how the basketball program is in shambles and they need new uniforms in addition to facilities.

Probably will drop down a level, wish him well , wherever he goes .

I wish him nothing but the best. I don't think he had a bad attitude. He seemed to me like the guy who was always the first guy cheering for everyone else. I hope he can find playing time somewhere. maybe he can drop to a D-2 school and be eligible immediately. Hopefully we can bring in a few guys who can really help us.

Quite honestly this is addition by subtraction. I wish Okoro well wherever he lands.

Higgins,

I hear you, but Okoro played 7 min/gm in roughly 10 games his first year. Guessing those were mostly garbage minutes. There's 20 guys at College Ave gym playing Mondays and Wednesdays that can be that kind of "body". Bottom line is he was brought here either because Van Macon thought he could play, or it was through the connection with Kerwin's people at St Raymonds/AAU. He was not a "body" at the time. Neither was JJ Moore, or Craig Brown.

On the other hand, I LOVE the pipeline Shoes has started in FLA.

A squad full of complementary type players which has been the norm at Rutgers clearly isn't the recruiting formula for success .The problem is the recruits with the skill set needed are unwilling to play for Rutgers.By now fans know the revolving door of transfers has been a net loser for Rutgers.

This is addition by subtraction for Eddie...explain to me the dire posts of our fans as if Okoro was a major player here... literally on a 13 player roster on aP5 team he's at best a 14- 15... Okra showed nothing which would validate this fan love affair...Rutger's basketball fans need to see it for what it's worth...We are short 10 players who would be able to compete night in and out in this conference .

I told you guys....there is one more weighing his options right now. Much better than Okoro.

About Okoro? Ok thanks

There is almost no one player on the team that we could not afford to lose because there is almost no B1G talent on the team. Nevertheless, Okoro doesn't hurt at all because a walk-on could fill his spot. That being said, it becomes a number (and bodies) game and 3 defections would certainly tell a story...Where did we hear this before, oh yeah, exactly two years ago. It's like time has stood still.

I agree. Okora is probably a great kid but this frees up a schollie for someone with more upside possibly.

Well then, bottom line we got exactly what we needed....a body. Not much more from what I could see.
