i will be on campus for the first time in years tomorrow. Bringing my nephew who is a junior and considering Rutgers. I will take him to scarlet fever before the game.

Any other suggestions on what he should see before the game? Grease trucks would have sealed the deal but I understand they are gone.

Ideas?

There’s been so much new construction in the past few years since you’ve been here. Definitely check out the Yard on College Ave, the new Honors College and the new academic building on Seminary Place, as well as the entire stretch of the Livingston Campus along Rockafeller Rd. near the RAC, which includes the new business school and a host of new dorms and shops.

Thanks all. Based on your responses I checked out websites on the Yard and seems like the place to go. The university maps don't label the Yard. Where is it relative to the student center?

Also, best place for a dessert/ snack after the game is?

The Yard is across the street from Scott Hall on College Ave.

For after game dessert / snack , go to Henry’s Diner right across from the RAC. Trust me, stuff, shakes are huge, or if yu feel like driving back to College Ave , Thomas Sweets in Easton Ave.

Willie the silent... With the story

Shore,
I forgot about Willie so I looked it up. You're killing me. No way I am bringing up the topic of virginity to my nephew. Let's just say Willie will probably be whistling with him there!

Oh one last question. Is the yard the place where he might see pretty women walking around?

sounds kind of Pitino of me , I know.

my god I completely forgot. Captain of his HS swim team and I hear he's really good. Most impressive pool on campus is where?

Probably the Werblin Center on Bush. Unfortunately RU dropped men's swimming a few years back.

Definitely check hours of operation due to holiday weekend on all above mentioned locations. Go ru!

In years past the diner wasn't open on weekends, so not sure about holiday weekend, or maybe they are open more now so would check hours.

Thanks All for the suggestions. We had a great time. The yard after the game was perfect. Although empty because of the break we could obviously see how it was an activity center during university hours. As a bonus - was able to see the end of the Pitt Miami football game on the big screen while stuff out faces from RU Hungry!
