The Paul Tagliabue Bowl game. F U Paul. Rutgers-Minnesota game was on NBC.

Great win yesterday. I had hoped we played better and we did. It was a nice Saturday.
Paul Tagliabue Bowl game?? WTF are you talking about?

Tagliabue rips Big Ten's expansion push

"One of the real challenges for the networks is to provide value, but you only provide value in markets where you provide traction," he said. "Is Minnesota and Rutgers going to get a big rating on Long Island? Give me a break. Every game isn’t Michigan and Michigan State.” He added, "Am I going to rush home from a tennis game on Saturday to watch Minnesota and Rutgers if I live on Long Island?"

Tagliabue publicly mocked a member of the conference that he was asked to consult for, as well as a school from another conference, and that’s despicable. He knew exactly what he was doing because the Big Ten was showing interest in bringing us on board. The Big East was quaking in their shoes, because they knew that it would be game over for their football conference if we left. I personally feel a special bond with Minnesota because of his comments, and I am in favor of creating the Tagliabue trophy. As Section124 points out, yesterday’s game was on NBC for a national audience. So much for his Tagliabue’s prediction.

You like PT? The guy was a douche and will always be a douche. Worst NFL commissioner as well.
I don't love him or hate him. I certainly wouldn't destroy someone for a off hand, meaningless comment from 15 years ago! The jab, which included a shot at Rutgers, was a general statement about the Big Ten expanding! To be honest he was also 100% right.

He wasn't right. He basically stabbed RU in the back. This was his comment: “Is Minnesota and Rutgers going to get a big rating on Long Island? Give me a break. Every game isn’t Michigan and Michigan State. Am I going to rush home from a tennis game on Saturday to watch Minnesota and Rutgers if I live on Long Island?” RU/Minny was on channel 4 this weekend.

Gio Rescigno was the RU QB for that 2016 game. Super gritty effort as I recall.
Yep, that was the away game my group chose that year. I believe that game might have been the first time Gio emerged as a starter. Pretty sure we missed an extra point in that game, and then later failed a two-point conversion to get that point back, thus resulting in the two-point deficit in the final score.

But did anyone rush home to watch that game on Long Island?
Stabbed in the back?? What a drama queen!! Have you been crying for the last 15 years??
Again the statement wasn't about Rutgers but expansion.

I didn't rush home but I planned my day around being able to watch the game. I happen to live on Long Island and there are a fair number of other alums and many many college football fans here.

If you didn't rush home then non Rutgers and Minnesota fans probably passed it all together.
I'm sure Tag wasn't speaking of alums. Jeeze.

Huh? I don't really think someone saying that the MN-RU game isn't likely to get good ratings on Long Island is stabbing anybody in the back. It may or may not turn out to have been correct when the ratings #s are in (is it even possible for us to learn how many people in Long Island watched the game?). But I can certainly understand why people familiar with RUFB might think that. And I'm not sure being on Channel 4 proves the game was watched by lots of people in Long Island.

IMO, you may be being a bit oversensitive about the comment. Not to mention, why should any RU fan GAF what anybody outside the program has to say about RUFB? Does what people say make us win or lose?

That was our first home win in November since 2017!
Happy days are here again!

I work for GAF. What does this have to do with the comment?

Also haven't been crying about this or hurt by his comment. Just have always thought someone hired to help develop the Big East conference should make a comment like that.

Maybe you should read your own comment over again! It will come to you eventually.
Anyway we won that battle, don't know why anyone is so upset!

The 31-24 barn burner vs. Maryland. That was the game that was supposed to be played at Yankee Stadium, but got moved back to campus due to the NYY ALCS appearance. Rescigno, Martin and Edwards all recorded TDs, as did Kiy Hester with a pick-6 to continue Ash's dream season and lift RU to a sterling 4-5 (3-3) record. All in front of a VERY generously announced crowd of 34,972.

Edwards' TD was on a pass play. Raheem Blackshear had a 44 yard kick return.

You're very angry. You should do a video of you screaming.🤣

It's very fashionable lately.
I'm not angry at all. I'm laughing at the butt hurt folks about a comment from 14/15 years ago especially when they miss the big picture. Those are the angry ones. Go ask them.

Does this mean no video?
