Ongoing opponent watch

B1G home teams 10-0 in conference play thus far.
Now 13-0 and amazing the number 3, 4 and 6th ranked teams in the country all lost to unranked teams . Going to be a crazy tough Big 10 this year.

Nice night tonite for our opponents, as Drexel won, Umass won and Pittsburgh won big. Got to root for our opponents to win as much as possible. If Bryant can win the NEC, SFA the Southland , and Pitt and St. Bonnie’s finish in the middle of the ACC and A10, helps our strength of schedule . We only have played one team in the 300’s in Kenpom and that is Niagara and we won by 40. Every little bit will help our final numbers

Right now, our OOC schedule rankings in NET:
Q1 (home 1-30, neutral 1-50, away 1-75)
73 - @Pittsburgh (L)

Q2 (home 31-75, neutral 51-100, away 76-135):
41 - Seton Hall (W)
68 - Stephen F Austin (W)

Q3 (home 76-160, neutral 101-200)
156 - Lafayette (TBD)
189 - (N) St. Bonaventure (L)

Q4 (home 161+, neutral 201+)
161 - UMass (W)
203 - Bryant (W)
238 - Drexel (W)
306 - NJIT (W)
313 - Niagara (W)

Pittsburgh is on the cusp of Q1/Q2.
SFA is on the cusp of Q2/Q3.
Lafayette, St. Bonaventure, and UMass are all on the cusp of Q3/Q4.

Really want those programs to do well to stay on the higher side of those cutoffs.

Rough day for the Big Ten so far. Indiana saved it by barely getting by Notre Dame.

Poor shooting has been a problem with most B1G teams this season which means wins on the road will be very difficult to achieve.

Wisconsin is blowing out a beat-up Tennessee team AT Tennessee. Helps our win over them look better.

Wisconsin has a ncaa resume even at 7-5. Rutgers is playing Caldwell

Tennessee was suspect already but without Lamonte Turner they're awful. A billion turnovers (unforced, it's not like Wisconsin forces a ton) and every shot they get seems to be falling away from the basket.

Nonetheless it will help us slightly in the metrics.

Wisconsin won today @UT by 20. 9 or even 10 bid league isn’t out of the question

Lots of parity in college basketball because of portal transfer usage resulting in unexpected roster turnover.

WVU is ranked #9 to OSU's #2 NET ranking its not that bad of a loss, besides dropping B1G's non conference by 1 loss. WVU's lone loss 2 pt. loss @ #47 SJU 11-2. WVU's was predicted to be one of the better teams in the B1G 12 with Kansas, Baylor and Texas Tech. Right now, top 5 conference...
1) Big 12 100-30 (9 of 10 top 95, low NET #110 KSU)

You've personally pointed out that our overall strength of schedule is no worse than average in other threads. But don't miss a chance to complain about how a team we already beat plays a tough schedule.

such snark...and you are known for that here, I am being objective...and will be going forward as a potential ncaa race shapes up.

Wisconsins schedule blows ours away by every metric...its 9 in the country, RU is solid at 35

if the season ended today, Wisconsin makes the tourney, RU doesnt

its not that bad of a loss///WVU is very good but you never want to see your leagues perceived top team ranked 2nd in the country lose to a team that isnt the perceived top team or even 2nd best in the big 12

Arkansas leading Indiana at Indiana with a minute left.

Also, anyone who likes to complain about our offense should watch this game...it is horrific.

Just like OSU, Indiana blew a game by playing a wretched 2nd half. Ark a good team but really hadnt beaten anyone much of note this year. Big lost opportunity for Indiana, bad for conference if you had it to the horrific loss by Northwestern

Northwestern in complete sinking ship mode. I know we have had those blunders but this is their third of the year.

Merrimack, Hartford, Radford(i think)

Ohio State got manhandled by WVU. I thought Ohio State was a pretty physical team, but they had no where near the physicality of WVU. Typical Huggins team and very dangerous.

Hopefully, next season we won’t be afraid to play some real teams OOC. Not sure what we are waiting for.
The answer per Pikiell is that he wants wins because of the 20 game B1G schedule. He also is cognizant of the necessity for a winning season.

Big Ten perception is just fine.

Big Ten #1 in KenPom right now by a significant margin with Big 12 and Big East neck and neck for #2 and almost no way that doesn't stay true come tournament time since major OOC games are essentially done at this point.

B10 commentators noted they were surprised of what they saw because that was not the OSU they had seen all year. Lots of unforced turnovers and Wesson's play was brutal...credit to WVU for that but it was a flat performance

How is the former standout lacrosse player who transferred in doing for Northwestern basketball? I thought that was a sign things were a little shaky at Northwestern.
