A school the size of Rutgers there's GOT to be at least a couple of guys who aren't on the football team who could FIND THE F*CKING END ZONE ON A KICKOFF.

Yeah, this amazes me. And I look at other teams' kickers who launch the ball, and they're not all these thick-legged monsters. It's like hitting a golf ball long--it's about club-head speed. There has to be one guy we can find on campus with the right club-head speed. Amen and amen.

I believe we will have one next year that can do it.

We do need a long kicker. I remember playing Penn State last year and hoping Grant would return a few. Unfortunately the "slightly overweight" PSU kicker was kicking them out of the end zone. That is a powerful weapon....nullify any and all returns at will. We need one of those.

last KO was the shortest of all and gave Minn ridiculous field position for the W.....saw it coming after that.

Again, met 3 cheerleaders from 7-0 Bridgewater last Friday post game who said their great kicker (another thread yesterday) is either signed or wants to attend RU (they said "is going to RU"). According to my crew Ash wants to save the scholie for now and wants the kicker to walk on. A bit dangerous as he has other offers such as Harvard (problem is family is well to do and that hurts aid as the Ivies don't offer scholarships.) That's what I heard pregame Illinois.

I honestly don't know why you would save the schollie if the kid was good enough to justify a kicker schollie. That said, very very few kickers are that good, ad I don't know if this BW kid is at that level. If he is, we should have secured his commitment by now. A great kicker is hugely important.

There was a first thread weeks ago (I missed). Supposedly he's THAT good. (2 "short" FGS and 3 extra points Friday night in rout of Frankln). Supposedly always reaches the end zone. My thought are that maybe Ash saves schollie for now raising class's rank ( or maybe a 4-5 star where we are deep/late commit after class full). Especially this offseason you have to figure there will be an unhappy player who will transfer and at least one decommitment.

Another thing I could guess is that Ash wants to see how he is at Rutgers or in a game. I was well acquainted with the punter and kicker during my years at RU. Our punter Gary Liska (1981-5?) could place the ball really well but I think he averaged less at RU than he did in High School.

One reason to keep it quiet and not offer a scholly is to prevent some bigger schools from identifying him and flipping him like the kid that is sitting on the bench at PSU now.
